  • The most amazing house and place to stay!

This was very aptly named, a real Jewel with lots of thought given to have everything needed for a perfect holiday. There were 9 of us and Barbara, the owner, generously let us have free use of the other separate rental within the property so we had masses of space. Waking up in the morning to a view of the Mosel was incredible and meant you never wanted a long lie in! The kitchen was very well equipped with everything included you would need. A real party kitchen, overlooking the cruisers that moored from time to time. Magical! The town itself is incredible and what you couldn’t get there ( very little to be fair, you could get from a short drive or bus ride to the huge hyper market Globus, on the other side of the river, which was my 16 year old sons favourite visit! We took boat trips, hired cycles and did a group trip to Traben Trabach, visited the outdoor pool in Krov , and ate out in fab places in the town. I would definitely return in a heartbeat to this wonderful location and fabulous house. The owner, Barbara, could not have been more helpful and efficient in all her communications. Incredible start to a school holiday. Felt very rested. Can not recommend highly enough!

Very well appointed first floor property with excellent view over Moselle river, valley, hillside vineyards, towns of Bernkastel and Kues + Burg Landshut. Owner occupies ground floor, but was away, leaving us free to park on the driveway. Unsure whether this would be available if owner were in residence. The apartment is large and airy. Bathroom is very new. Kitchen is well provided, but does not have a conventional oven, rather a microwave/combi + 4-ring halogen hob. Full size dishwasher. There is a conservatory rather than a balcony. Full sliding doors on two sides, but there is nowhere to sit out. Large TV with 500+ channels, but debatable how useful most of them are to English-only speakers. Walk of ca 25 mins into Bernkastel. The Moselle valley is beautiful in either direction and the city of Trier should not be missed. Burg Landshut offers fine views over both towns and the river, but is essentially just a restaurant, i.e. the castle itself is of no great interest. Supermarket shopping is easy, with Aldi, Edeka and Lidl all in Kues. Recommend the 45 min ride on the City Train. For info, approx. a 5 hour drive from Calais, so reachable in a day from much of the UK, though motorway route through mainly Belgium not scintillating.
