Im Weierfeld 20, Berkastel-Kues. 6th - 12th July 2018

Very well appointed first floor property with excellent view over Moselle river, valley, hillside vineyards, towns of Bernkastel and Kues + Burg Landshut. Owner occupies ground floor, but was away, leaving us free to park on the driveway. Unsure whether this would be available if owner were in residence. The apartment is large and airy. Bathroom is very new. Kitchen is well provided, but does not have a conventional oven, rather a microwave/combi + 4-ring halogen hob. Full size dishwasher. There is a conservatory rather than a balcony. Full sliding doors on two sides, but there is nowhere to sit out. Large TV with 500+ channels, but debatable how useful most of them are to English-only speakers. Walk of ca 25 mins into Bernkastel. The Moselle valley is beautiful in either direction and the city of Trier should not be missed. Burg Landshut offers fine views over both towns and the river, but is essentially just a restaurant, i.e. the castle itself is of no great interest. Supermarket shopping is easy, with Aldi, Edeka and Lidl all in Kues. Recommend the 45 min ride on the City Train. For info, approx. a 5 hour drive from Calais, so reachable in a day from much of the UK, though motorway route through mainly Belgium not scintillating.
