  • A lovely clean apartment tucked away in a quiet village
    5 of 5

A well proportioned apartment for a family of four. It was very clean. We found the kitchen had plenty of crockery and cutlery with modern appliances so we had everything we needed during our stay. Melanie was away with work the evening we arrived but her father came to check everything was all right shortly after we arrived. Melanie came to see us the next day. We were well looked after by them. If you are looking for somewhere in a quiet village but within easy reach of Koblenz and Cochem this is an appartment you should look at.

  • Great House and Location
    5 of 5

This is a very quiet, yet convenient place to stay. The booking process was simple, as ever, with great correspondence from Peter, the owner, throughout. He met us at the property (after my SatNav had given us an inpromptu tour of the island); there, he showed us where to park, how things worked, and suggested places we could try to eat. Very kind and hospitable :-). The layout of the house is great if, like us, you are travelling with older/adult offspring. Our son was able to take the top floor as his own, with a shower room, TV, bedroom, and lounge area to himself. The living area on the first (middle) floor is large, and gives access to the lovely balcony, with views of the Rhein. The kitchen and downstairs bathrooms are well equipped too, though we did miss out on a washing machine for clothes. Not too much of a worry, though might be a concern for longer stays. You can park very safely right outside the house. As the transport system in the area is excellent, you won't need your car again unless you are going far out in the rural areas. The train/bus station is a short walk (less than 5 mins) across the river in Vallendar. The all-day/3-day tickets let you use local trains and buses, for an extremely reasonable price. For example, the price for 3 adults to go as far as Cochem is just 23€. You can use the three ferries across the Rhein in the VRM area too, all in the same ticket price. For a more scenic route into Koblenz, you can take a short boat ride from Vallendar too. The grocery stores and bakeries are in Vallendar as well, very close by. There are a couple of places to eat and drink in Niederwerth, but we did not get to try them, as we were elsewhere when they were open. There are lots of choices in Koblenz though (a few in Vallendar too). Just watch the time if you're using the bus, as after about 1930, they only run once an hour! But that is easy to plan around. This is a great location, with highly flexible accommodation, for families, couples, and friends alike. The house is clean, tidy, bright, and welcoming. We would definitely return here again if we were in the area. Thank you very much Peter, we had a great vacation :-).
