In a beautiful, peaceful location this place has much to recommend it. Friendly owners greet you and provide an onsite yet discreet presence. A lovely (stunning!) fish filled stream trickles nearby, past your chalet creating a very harmonious atmosphere. Chickens peck close to the main house (No morning cockerel that I noticed though) while a family cat shades itself from the sun.
The chalets are nestled in the trees and provide adequate, if a little basic, comfort for most. Do bare in mind you are not hiring the house itself (which the picture can lead some to believe). The shared pool and other facilities are a little bit worn but for people there to relax should be fine. Afternoons around the pool were very pleasant and restful.
It's important to bare in mind the probable need to pay for some small extras (like for sheets etc), especially if you are flying in from further afield. I got the firm impression most visitors are French or continental, so most probably drive in.
The evenings we were there we were welcomed to join in with a communal BBQ (Bring your own) which was very friendly. But it is entirely optional.
Note that the owners themselves do not speak English, so having a smattering of French is helpful.
This site is also somewhat North (60 miles or so) of some of the more popular Ardeche venues -eg. The Gorges etc) which may be worth baring in mind if you plan to use those.
All in all a very enjoyable week and a lot of London stress has vanished ;-)....
We spent there a week, mostly on trips, so we left the gite in the morning and returned in the evening. The place has a nice living room, kitchen and dining room in once. It is a real countryside, so don´t be surprised that there are pidgeons, hens, cows and flies everywhere. We didn´t mind it, we wanted to be in a village, but for some people it could be difficult. The view from the living room is amazing. The village is about 1,5 km down the hill, around the cottage there are 2 other houses and then nothing. It is a quiet place with lovely owners. They are very polite and they don´t speak any English at all, so it is also a challenge! The lady provided us with a lot of home grown vegetables (thank very much) which we barbecued with local sausages every evening. The house is well equipped - washing machine, dishwasher, coffee maker, kettle, toaster, etc. The only thing is stairs. To the house, to the bedrooms and bathroom.
The best places for trips are Tournon sur Rhone (a castle, market), Thaïs cave, a boat trip in Roue Royans, and a velorail - I recommend that..
