Beautifully renovated gite

5 of 5
A very comfortable, stylish and well equipped gite with everything you could need. We stayed for a week in February and made good use of the gite's great amenities. Everything was good quality and worked efficiently- tv, wifi, dishwasher, washing machine and tumble dryer .... but unfortunately we didn't get the opportunity to use the pool! Hopefully we will be back in summer to review it! The owners were kind and communicative and only ten minutes away if we needed them. Would thoroughly recommend to all.

A lovely week in this gite

5 of 5
We arrived in the middle of a week's bad weather and had spent the previous 3 days feeling a little cold and damp (inadequate clothing for rare bad weather!). We got to the gite and Peter provided us with lots of kindling, told us to help ourselves to wood and we lit the stove. How wonderful to feel warm and cosy. This is probably an odd start to a review, but we had spent the previous week in a house which was not suitable for chilly weather and having a fire made us very happy. The gite itself is really very nice. Perfectly equipped and very comfortable and renovated to a high spec. When the weather picked up we used the pool which is a perfect size. Helen and Peter did not intrude. They came to see us after our first night to see if everything was OK and then we just saw them in passing, and when we went to borrow a memory stick to watch some films. We went walking when the weather was cooler and went to various local towns. We relaxed a lot in the last 4 days when the weather was good and it is a perfect gite to relax in. We aim to go back in early summer for a week doing absolutely nothing. Cath and Clare

Beautiful property and setting

5 of 5
We stayed at Bellevue for 2 weeks in September. What a lovely property, area and setting. We have visited France for many years and this is one of the best properties we have stayed in. The weather was such that the pool area got a far greater level of use than would normally be the case for us and it was superb. The view from the pool area and the shaded eating area at the front of the property is idyllic, even my cooking tasted quite good looking across the fields to the hamlet and church of Beaugas. The furniture has been very well chosen to be archetypally French rustic in appearance but still highly practical and although not needed by my wife and I, the table tennis, table football and badminton would be great past-times for the more energetic and for children. Bergerac is about 30 minutes away, Villeneuve-Sur-Lot 20 minutes and Marmande around 45 minutes. You can get all of your basic requirements from Cancon which is a 5 minute drive or a pleasant 45 minute walk and all of the major supermarkets are in those towns mentioned above. Whilst Chris, Liz and Olivia live in the converted barn across from the house, there is no feeling of being overlooked or impinged on in any way but the upside is that they are readily available if you want suggestions or any help. Chris's advice on the scenic route to Chateau Biron is just one example of local knowledge meaning you get so much more from your visit. Chateaus Gavaudun and Bonaguil are both very interesting destinations as well as Biron and an hour's drive will get you to the Grottes and Gouffres of the Southern Dordogne. I would have no second thoughts in recommending Bellevue to holidaymakers from young families to older travellers and we hope to return with our own family.
