Make A Holiday Rental Cottage in Veynes, France, Your Home Away From Home

Situated in the Hautes-Alpes region of France is the small town of Veynes. In the past, this was a railway town, but from the 1980’s and onwards has transformed to be something of a pioneering centre of solar technology due in part to the 300 days of sunshine it enjoys a year. A holiday rental cottage in Veynes is the best choice of accommodation, and enables you to feel more like a part of the community. Coming fully equipped with everything that you need to feel at home, it is the perfect base from which to enjoy this part of France, whether you are taking a holiday in Veynes for the winter skiing or for the wonderful summers.

Things to Do on Holiday in Veynes, France

There are many activities that you can try during a holiday in Veynes, although some of course are seasonal. During the winter months, you could visit one of the nearby ski resorts, where there are slopes suitable for people of all experience levels. During the summer, some of these ski resorts transform into mountain biking centres, with the ski lifts being used to take person and bike up onto some challenging but beautiful sections. Other activities that you could try include hiking, climbing, fishing and swimming. The clean, pure air positively encourages a love of the outdoor life!

Places to Visit on Holiday in Veynes, France

You may want to mix some day trips into your holiday in Veynes, and there are a number of places of interest in the surrounding area both near and far. The man-made lake, as well as offering fishing and swimming opportunities, is also worth a visit to see local wildlife. The town of Poligny, just 25 km away, has an interesting history and is something of an art colony; and the town of Mens with its picturesque centre area is also worthy of consideration. Another suggestion of a place to visit away from your self catering accommodation in Veynes is the Notre Dame del la Salette church which is on a pilgrimage trail.

Situated at just over 800 metres above sea level, the weather in Veynes will vary considerably depending on what time of year that you choose to visit, although that said, the sky will be clear for most of the time, regardless of the temperature. During the summer, expect temperatures to average around 24 degrees Celsius, with rainfall being minimal. During the autumn, it starts to get cooler, with day time highs of 16 degrees often being followed by night time lows of just one degree. The winter is the very coldest time of year, and snowfall can be expected during November and December, although this mainly affects the higher regions.

There are many flights coming in and out of this airport everyday, and one example that may be of interest to travellers from the UK, is the regular British Airways flight from London Gatwick (LGW).

Great property but description not accurate

4 of 5
We had a lovely stay in Superdevoluy and the apartment was in a great location and well equipped. Note that the description is not accurate as the towels and sheets are not provided but cost us an additional €50. Wifi is available but only suitable for email and not much more.

Superb very family friendly accommodation

5 of 5
A wonderful house in a beautiful spot with absolutely stunning views. We holidayed for a week as a large-ish family group and had a fabulous stay. The house was very clean and the kitchen had absolutely everything you would want from your kitchen at home (including an extra fridge for beer!). The house is spacious and open plan with plenty of room for everyone to enjoy their stay. Would highly recommend to people with young kids as it was pretty much all on the same floor (including the bedrooms). The large open plan kitchen/dining/living space was excellent for little people with any stairs gated or doored so it felt extremely safe and relaxing. There were good quality wooden cots (with very clean mattresses) that could be put in the any of the bedrooms as needed and all the bedrooms were spacious and ensuite. There were also highchairs available as needed. We made use of the washing machine and washing line - also very useful with small kids! The room we were in was perfect for a young family as it had a double bed, single bed and room for a cot if needed. It also had a bath in the ensuite. The small village is in easy walking distance, where there were 3 or 4 lovely places to eat as well as swimming pool, which had a kiddie pool as well. There is plenty of space outside for kids to play safely and the terrace with the beautiful views was a great place to spend afternoons and evenings. There was even a BBQ to use. It really felt like the owners had thought of everything! Cannot recommend highly enough.
