A great little cottage, close enough to local amenities, but rural enough to get the true French experience. The house itself is stocked with everything you could ever need, including adaptors and hairdryer and was beautifully clean and tidy on arrival. We really appreciated the bottle of wine, milk and baguette after a very long drive! The pool was big enough and was cleaned regularly by Steve who was also very helpful to our inquisitive questions. There is ample shade around the pool which was much appreciated on very hot days. There were plenty of sun beds and seating for outside eating.
The area is outstanding - very rural and quiet, full of Bastides, churches and gorges. We went canoeing down the Auveryne River starting off from St Antonin. It was 80 Euros for five of us and we were given plenty of time to paddle the 10km. A really great day out!! We fell in love with St.Antonin and its cobbled streets - it was very busy with tourists and I would suggest booking restaurants well in advance. We also loved Najac, Cordes Sur-Ciel, the castle at Penne and Bruniquel. We made the trip to Albi, which is about 50km from the house. The cathedral and Toulouse Lautrec Museum were great. There is a supermarche in St Antonin, ( Carrefour) that though small was very adequate. We also went to L'Eclerc in Villefranche which was great for a big shop at the beginning of the holiday.
Mike and Caralyn were very organised with paperwork and even sent an email to say that a film had been made in the locality and we should watch it. They were also very prompt at replying to emails.
All in all we had a fabulous holiday, the weather was on the whole very hot and sunny with a few welcome thunderstorms in between. We would definitely recommend this cottage and area to others.
