An hour and a half away is the impressive Pont d’Arc, which is a 50 metre high arch that forms a great entrance to the Gorges de l’Ardeche.

Area of natural beauty with Nyons a picturesque market town with all necessary amenities 5 mins away

We had a lovely welcome from Ursula and Stan when we arrived with our small dog. We were shown our accommodation and the garden and pool, appreciating the captivating surroundings and mountain views. Our experience at Les Oliviers was one of pure delight. In our 2 week stay we quickly gravitated to getting back after lunch/shopping and staying put, enjoying the private gardens and pool which is shared only by the hosts and possibly a couple in the adjoining accommodation. Such was the appeal of the garden/ pool at sunset we wanted nothing more than to sit out and bbq in the lovely ambient evening. We will return at some point as there can be few places where a couple can have such a completely relaxing holiday- Highly Recommended. Mark and Jan

Relaxing in Provence

The interior of the gite is the most pleasant we have come across in the ten years or so that we have been visiting this part of France. It was light and airy and the open plan gave a wonderful feeling of spaciousness. It was a pleasure to eat in rather than outside, which was just as well, as the steps down to the small outside sitting area would have made it very tedious to set up a meal and in any event, the metal garden furniture and small table set on bare earth was not exactly inviting. The owners were very friendly and considerate but they spoke hardly a word of English despite the fact that the site details indicated both French and English were spoken. This information should be amended. It is true they had a friend, to whom we were introduced, who spoke perfect English, being born and brought up in the UK but he was not living on site. The gite was extremely difficult to find and it did not show up on our Satnav. It is much nearer Nyons than Venterol and if we had not found someone in Venterol who not only knew where the Granjon residence was but was with an American friend who could translate for us, I doubt we ever would have found it. He actually drove there and we followed. The following two days we still got lost trying to find the gite and it was only on the third day that we managed to work out a reliable route. The advert did say the property was unsuitable for the disabled, so we had no-one but ourselves to blame for finding the number of steps we had to negotiate a bit of an effort- my wife is presently walking with a crutch having broken her hip earlier this year and I have arthritis in both knees and ankles. We also found the very low bed and unusually low toilet rather inconvenient but maybe this would not worry fitter and younger guests. Nevertheless, we had a very enjoyable holiday and felt very welcome. The gite is set in a beautiful location with lovely views.
