This is a huge beautiful property full of French charm brilliantly designed to make you feel you are in the middle of nowhere, even though there are a number of properties around you. We were greeted by Jocelyne, who spoke brilliant English and was more than happy to help us during our stay. She recommended lots of places we might like and was on hand if needed. The outside of this property would be my favourite, a good size gated pool and peaceful large outside eating area. Inside the house is full of little areas to relax and a large dining room but no real lounging area big enough for a large group - if the weather is good outside is where you would all gather. The bedrooms are all lovely although 4 of which are not ensuite, for some reason I read the property details and thought they were? These 4 rooms share two good sized shower/bathrooms. We were a family group so this wasn't an issue. I would recommend this property to adults or family's with older children, however we were a large family group with 7 children, 4 of which age range was from 18months - 4years. Unfortunately this house is not suitable for young children. The house is full of glass top coffee tables, dangerous landings and staircases for young children - and steps everywhere. Even the TV room is a worrying place to be with bosterous toddlers as there are huge (toddler sized) gaps next to the seating areas straight over a landing. Although highchairs and travel cots can be provided apart from the swimming pool there is nothing else to occupy little ones. Older children and adluts however will love the pool, pool table and ping pong areas. The area itself is very quiet, a get away from it all type of place. The local town is small but has everything you need. We found cycling places, canoeing, tree top adventure (this is a fab place for all ages 3yrs +) and a castle (very steep walk but worth it) with falconry displays all within a short drive away. I did love our holiday and the place itself is absolutely beautiful with breathtaking views, I would go back when the young children are much older!
We spent a week in this quiet gite in a hamlet 20km from Puy. The location is perfect for cycling the hills of Haute Loire, walking and relaxing. The owner is very welcoming and helpful. She does not speak English. There is access to a washing machine.
There is very limited bedding and no towels. Take everything with you, including pillows. There are duvets available.
The kitchen is one of the best we have seen, with a dishwasher and a large fridge freezer but there isn't much cleaning equipment so cloths, liquid etc should be taken. Also the kitchen knifes are quite blunt so take your own or a steel.
The parking is down a narrow grassy lane behind the gite. Large or low cars won't make it. My Alfa with roof box and bike was fine.
None of this detracted from the visit and it's a great location.
