Make holiday rental accommodation or a ski chalet in Val d’Isere, France your home away from home

This year, the Val d’Isere ski season will run from the 1st December until the first weekend of May, meaning that there is plenty of time to fit in a winter sports holiday or ski weekend in Val d’Isere this year! Many people will already be very familiar with skiing in Val d’Isere, but for those who don’t, and for those who have not investigated the resort during the summer months, there is a huge amount to try when you rent Val d’Isere accommodation. Located deep in the Rhone Alps region of France, Val d’Isere is one of the most famous mountain resorts in the whole of Europe, attracting many thousands during the ski season and retaining many discerning travellers throughout the summer months too. As one of the most exclusive and smart resorts for skiing, Val d’Isere has only the most luxurious of services, facilities and holiday rentals.

Things to do in Val d’Isere, France

As part of the Espace Killy ski domain, ski chalets in Val d’Isere are best known for skiing holidays. Anyone wanting to take a skiing holiday in France, from the interested beginner to the adrenaline fuelled expert will find downhill skiing and snowboarding of almost 300km, moguls, plenty of off-piste and many alternative sporting facilities are at their mercy from a Val d’Isere ski chalet. Despite its ‘Val de Sloane Square’ image, there is a very friendly atmosphere, and visitors will be warmly welcomed into Val d’Isere accommodation, and even more warmly welcomed into the plethora of bars, clubs and restaurants which make up Val d’Isere’s famous après-ski scene! The smart, small collection of buildings in the centre of the resort, known as ‘Val Village’ is the centre of shopping and relaxing away from the slopes and ski apartments of Val d’Isere. Off piste skiing in Val d’Isere is exceptional, but you must adhere to warnings as avalanches can easily be triggered by skiing in the wrong areas.

Val d’Isere is one of very few ‘snow-sure’ resorts in France due to its altitude in the Alps, but despite this, the resort has also invested heavily in snow making facilities and off-snow sporting facilities. During the winter, bob sleighing, ice climbing, ice driving and snow-shoe trails are hugely popular activities, and there is always plenty going on in the village.

During the summer months, accommodation in Val d’Isere is not empty. The walking, climbing, mountain biking and para-gliding opportunities are so good that the resort still has a very open feel to it, despite the obvious lack of tourist crowds. The hills are relatively empty, apart from the occasional fellow walkers or riders also enjoying the spectacular scenery and tranquil atmosphere.

Dream vacation in Val d'Isere at Simmental

                                4 of 5
Booking was very easy and everyone was very helpful. Upon arrival the PM was so helpful, friendly and accommodating. Everything advertised wasn't quite in working order, couldn't get fancy advertised Nespresso machine to work...no big deal. For a ski in/ski out rental my only negative feedback would be there is very little space for storing ski clothes and and drying gear at the end of a day. No closet in the bedroom and not enough hooks. For 2 people this is a very small space. For such a small space it is comfortable and the bed and bath are very comfortable, the towels and bathrobes are great! This rental is the perfect distance from town, a lovely walk to and from dinner on a groomed walking path, and the bus is very easy and convenient. We had a dream vacation in Val d'Isere and this lodging option was perfect for us. I would stay here again and I would recommend to others!

                                Location Location Location!

                                5 of 5
When I read it was close to the lifts, I didn't really appreciate just how fabulous the location is! La Bergerie apartment is about 10 meters away from the snow and the start of the ski area. The ski schools took less than 5 mins to get to, even with 4 children under the age of 10 all wearing ski boots. Incredible! I really felt smug when the lady in the ski rental place (Snowberry....unbeatable) asked me if I knew just how good the location was when I booked it. Banana bar is just next door which was good for apres-ski drinks, but the chalet itself is quiet as anything. Dick's Tea bar, Face cafe, a good supermarket and a fab boulangerie are less than 5 mins walk away. Secondly, the place is enormous! There are 3 seating areas plus the dining table. 2 of the seating areas aren't shown in the pictures. Plenty of space to store bags. All bedrooms were huge too. The mezzanine bedroom can either be integrated or shut off (sharing the kitchen), but has its own seating area and shower room/loo. Our kids all preferred to use the bathroom shown in the pictures rather than this one as there are some water-stains in the sink which put them off. Decoration... a bit of a plus and minus here. Obviously has been expensively done, but is starting to look a little tired. Black carpets throughout which hide the dirt, but is that necessarily a good thing?! The cushions around the dining table kept falling off and aren't particularly comfortable... we all preferred to use the wooden chairs provided. One of the bedrooms has red flock-wallpaper which, when combined with the black carpet, made it feel like a lady-of-the-night's boudoir! The dressing room of the far bedroom is floor-to-ceiling mirrored. Day to day cleaning had been well done and the towels provided were of good quality. I would have preferred to see duvets rather than sheets and blankets. That took up too much time to re-make in the mornings. The chalet seemed to have plenty of hot water and was very warm. Best to keep in mind when deciding who gets which room is that the mezzanine bedroom is a double bed only, and the head room is very low. A 6ft tall person has to duck their head up there. Also, the beds seem to be quite short. My 6ft 2 husband had his feet dangling over the end. The main shower had 3 jets but was rather odd and we didn't like it. Good water pressure though Overall a wonderful place and great value for money. Would definately return.
