Make a holiday rental home or villa in Uzes, France your home away from home

The town of Uzes, France lies between the peaks of the Cevennes Mountains and the beaches of the Mediterranean in the Gard department in Languedoc-Roussillon. Uzes is a lively town, surrounded by vineyards and filled with excellent shopping streets. The pace of life is magnificently slow, and there is an undeniable hint of the Mediterranean to the town.

Things to do in Uzes, France

Touring the centre of town is a real treat, as the medieval old town has so many attractions and important historical sites that it has been listed as a protected historical centre. The Castle of the Ducs d’Uzes, King’s Towers and the Cathedral of St Theodorit are among the most impressive sites to explore from a holiday rental villa in Uzes, France. The incredible Roman aqueduct is an extraordinary feat of engineering, even by today’s standards, and is best viewed from the delightful river beaches which lie just outside the town. Wednesdays and Saturdays see Uzes spring into life with the arrival of the market, which is the best place to buy truffles, Duche d’Uzes wines, and olives especially. The Saturday market is cited as the most colourful and exciting in the whole of southern France.

Uzes is located in a magnificently rural region of Languedoc-Roussillon. The Cevennes Mountains, and the Cevennes National Park in particular, are stunning landscapes, perfect for walking, hiking, horse riding, mountain biking and rock climbing holidays. The oak forests that carpet much of the area provide many fantastic routes for walking and riding, protecting walkers from the summer sun. The Gorges du Gardon are beautifully dramatic, especially if you are exploring them with from the river in the bottom with the use of a canoe.

Fantastic 2 bedroomed house with a small garden in a lovely village with amazing market.

5 of 5
The property is lovely and well equipped. It is very clean and has a large shaded terrace with table and chairs for eating out and a great barbeque. The property is just round the corner from a gorgeous boulangerie and 5-10 minutes walk from other shops and the market on Tuesdays and Fridays. There are several restaurants in St Quentin la Poterie but we fell in love with La Cuisine de la Boucherie. It a short drive to the historical town of Uzes where there are large supermarkets. Although there are fantastic screens on the windows, the mosquitoes did get in so take cream and buy spray whilst you are there. Both bedrooms are large and airy and the living room and kitchen are well equipped. There is an large gas cooker range with separate oven and large fridge/freezer, dishwasher, washing machine and clothes dryer. The garage is great for keeping the car cook and the loungers were welcome when we arrived home from a day's sightseeing. There are loads of places to see within an hours drive from the village from Le Pont du Gard, to Nimes, Avignon, Aigues-Mortes, Montpellier, the wine areas of the valley of the Rhone etc. Can't wait to come back and see the many places we didn't have time to see. The Wi-Fi was excellent. There is a frequent bus to Uzes and Nimes from the village which is great if you fancy going car free for a day. This property is perfect for couples or a small family. Thank you to Caroline and to Madame for all their assistance and warm welcome.

A comfortable, well maintained, conveniently located property.

We stayed in Uzes in this great place for a week. The main room was somewhat formal looking with the relaxed feeling of a family room. The kitchen was fine. The bed was comfortable. The shower was perfect. Add to all this that the view from the main room is looking out over the town square and you have one of the best possible places to stay in Uzes. The apartment was ideal for enjoying the many charms of Uzes including its many good restaurants and food providers, the shops, market day on the square and the proximity to Nime , Avignon, Pont du Gard and many other interesting points nearby. At the end of each day this was a calm oasis right in the heart of everything.
