Make a holiday rental apartment or villa in Tremolat, France your home away from home

The charming little village of Tremolat lies on a wide meander of the Dordogne River. Set among the vineyards and pre-historic sites of Perigord Noir, Tremolat is a wonderfully hospitable village, which could not be anywhere but the heart of the French countryside.

Things to do in Tremolat, France

There are some notable sights to explore in the village of Tremolat, France. The dramatic church tower of St Nicholas’ Church and the quaint St Hilaire’s Church are both worth visiting, but it is the 17th century gabare boats on the Tremolat Lake which are of most interest to most visitors. There are some lovely boat trips to be enjoyed on these old boats too. The River Dordogne is a fantastic fishing river, and sitting on the banks, soaking in the atmosphere, scenery and sun cannot be beaten. The banks of the Dordogne in the Tremolat region are easily accessible on foot, allowing visitors to Tremolat accommodation wonderful days of walking along the banks with a fishing rod. Fishing permits for the Dordogne are easily obtained from the town hall and many local tabacs. The vineyard adorned Dordogne Valley is also a fine walking, mountain biking and horse riding area, with blissful trails running along the banks of the river, as well as into the woodland covered hills that surround the village. Perigord Noir is known for its peaceful walking routes through timeless vineyards, medieval villages and beautiful woodlands, and the number of exquisitely ornate yet imposing chateau that adorn the hilltops make it one of the finest places to walk in peace. The slightly more traditional events of the Easter fete and second hand fairs on the third Sunday of each month are both great fun to get involved with.

Places to visit on holiday in Tremolat, France

The staggering village of Domme, or the ‘Acropolis of the Perigord’, is an amazing village to explore, filled with remarkable buildings built along the cliffs of a large limestone plateau in the Dordogne countryside. Taking the time to visit Dromme from Tremolat accommodation is well worth it, even if you only have time to sit in one of their restaurants taking in the scenery from your table.

Weather in Tremolat, France

The summer sees temperatures reaching an average of 30°C, with daily peaks in the mid 30’s daily from June until late September. The river beaches of the Dordogne are impossible to ignore during the summer months, and in autumn, the grape harvest comes in and the mild weather means autumn is a fantastic time to visit a self catering Tremolat property.

Holiday to celebrate our 40th wedding anniversary..

5 of 5
The barn and the cottage. With 14 family members aged between 4 and 65 - including 3 teenagers - this was going to be interesting week. Everyone loved it. What makes this place special is SPACE. There is space to have 14 people sit down to eat in a number of different locations ....space to socialise.......and space to find a quiet area to read a book or FaceTime school friends. It is a property I would recommend and would also revisit as there is so much to do and see in this area. Both houses are furnished with quality pots pans utensils etc and there is plenty of crockery. The swimming pool is a good size and fenced off, the bicycles were used every day for the bread and croissant run and the table tennis table with the ladder competition created by Ryan provided a super communal activity for all.
