  • Modern, comfortable, spotless and ideally situated to explore Carcassonne
    5 of 5

The apartment is within easy walk of both old town and the new, with great views towards the city walls. The apartment has been tastefully modernised, bed very comfortable, shower good + air conditioning and spotlessly clean. About 15 minutes from airport with easy parking in front of apartment block, a great base to explore Carcassonne and surrounding area. What's not to like? We had a great week! Alain, our host, could not have been more helpful and friendly. As a non French speaker myself it was great to be able to converse easily with him as his English is better than many native English speakers, he could even understand my west country accent! We couldn't recommend a stay with Alain more highly, parfait!

  • Fantastic well equipped apartment in a great location.

From the moment I booked Andrea was very attentive, gave lots of useful information and checked all was in order for our arrival. The location of the apt was perfect for us; in the centre of town, on a busy square. Being in the centre expect some noise from those in the cafés and market below. I found the 5am delivery trucks particularly noisy but I am from the country so not used to such sounds. The appartment was as described; simply and tastefully decorated, spotlessly clean, bright, airy and well equipped. The beds were comfortable and lots of storage space for clothes. Towels , including beach towels, were included which was really useful since we travelled with only hand luggage. Thoughtfully, there was also a backpack, food containers and a flask in case you wanted to take a picnic. We used only the local shops and market for our supplies which was fine but obviously more expensive than the supermarket which is a drive or bus journey. Carcassonne is a lovely city and can easily be easily explored on foot. The train station was a short walk away and bus service looked to be regular. The area was very busy with tourists, especially around the old city. We hired a car (buy a 7 day carparking pass) which enabled us to explore further afield too: La Grasse (gorgeous town, lovely swim in the river, nice ice cream) , Peyriac-de-Mer (flamingoes), Narbonne (large, clean beach), Lac de la Cavayere (lovely lake, walks, cafés and water sports) were some of the notable trips we took. We also took a picnic trip on the Canal de Midi. Food outlets were varied in the area and everyone we met was friendly and helpful. Martin was very friendly and knowledgeable about the area and gave us some helpful tips. He was also happy to be 'on call,' for our time there. No shops were open on a Sunday so plan for this. The local outdoor pool was being refurbished so not open (despite the website telling you it is). For a city/town centre stay I'd definitely recommend this area and, in particular, Andrea's apartment.
