  • A lovely house perfect for a large group
    5 of 5

This was our second trip to the area and we had a lovely time staying in Les Valles. We were looking for a larger house which could sleep 3 families and this fitted the bill perfectly. There was plenty of space both inside and outside of the house for the 5 children and 6 adults, with comfortable rooms for various combinations of sleeping arrangements. There was also a good amount of toilets and showers to go between the large group. The views to the back of the house, looking out over St Thomas de Courciers are stunning with a good balcony to sit out on. Out the front of the property there is space for 3/4 cars to park and a large piece of grass/gravelled area where we sat out with the provided garden furniture to eat and read. Indoors the extremely large lounge was perfect for a large group to play games, read, as well as a large kitchen and dining room, both with dining tables. The addition of the large table tennis room, with darts was a fantastic addition for all the family! At the top of the house, the attic room was good for the children to have a 'den' space to play or as an additional sleeping area. We enjoyed the seclusion of the property, but also sampled the many affordable local attractions (Sille Plage, Roman site at Jublains, Castles, local markets, Robert Tatin Museum) as well as the many local shops for food and drink. The owner was extremely helpful giving information prior to the holiday, and the local contact was very friendly and helpful assisting with any problems during our stay.

  • A very relaxing week away - and great to have a pool in our back garden!

We spent a lovely week in August in Grooms Cottage. Anita and Richard are fantastic hosts - they allowed us to look around their beautiful chateau, and we had some lovely walks in the grounds and orchards. The pool is a great size and the cover helped on some slightly cooler days, worth noting that the pool is shared with chateau guests and the other rental property. Richard has a number of inflatables he regularly blows up for guests which is a lovely touch! The cottage itself is very spacious especially the bedrooms and the original character really stands out. The furnishings etc are fairly basic, but the kitchen was well equipped. We had a lovely, relaxing week exploring the local area and would recommend to others who want their own piece of rural France for a week. Thanks again to Anita and Richard for sharing their home.
