  • Great family holiday in a peaceful setting
    5 of 5

We really enjoyed our 6 nights at this gite during October Half Term. We were met by the owner, Janette, who had left milk, butter, bread, wine and homemade shortbread and lemon drizzle cake, which was a wonderful welcome after a long drive! We were lucky to have gorgeous weather so we made the most of the huge shared garden, playing badminton and football with the kids and enjoying the sun! The pool was closed, which was a shame given the weather, but we hadn't really expected it to be open in late October. We did, however, find an excellent indoor water park close by (Les Antilles De Jonzac) which we liked so much we went twice! The gite itself had everything we could have needed, with a huge kitchen and a small private garden with a table so we could eat outside in the sun. The setting was lovely - it's in the countryside and was very peaceful. The only issue we had was that we couldn't get the radiators to come on (it was warm during the day but obviously cooled down at night) - in the event it didn't get cold enough for this to be a problem but if we'd been staying longer (the temperature dropped radically the day we left) I'd have raised this with Janette - it's probably just a switch somewhere but we couldn't find it. Overall, a great holiday and we may well go back!

  • Lovely restful break

This is the smallest of 4 different sized gites at Les Gites du Vigneron. We spent 5 nights here as part of a touring holiday in France and Spain and enjoyed it thoroughly. The hosts Tim and Vanessa were most welcoming and showed us around the property and explained everything we needed. They were also a mine of information on what we might do and where we could go, including local restaurants. The gite is freshly decorated, spotlessly clean, well equiped and very comfortable, particularly the bed, also the gardens and pool were most welcome to relax in although we didn't use them much as we were out sightseeing most of the time. Saint Seurin de Palenne is an excellent jumping off point for day trips, we visited La Rochelle, Cognac and Talmont sur Gironde. We will stay here again when family and travel plans allow.
