  • The most picturesque French countryside escape
    5 of 5

I stayed here with my family, 6 of us in total, and we all absolutely loved it here. The house is beautiful and has the loveliest view over the village. It is secluded and very private but only a few minutes walk to the centre of Obersteinbach where a baker comes each morning and you can buy fresh bread, crossaints and pastries that are delicious. There are plenty of beautiful and easy walks to do from the house. There is also horse riding, a local goat cheese farm and a restaurant within the village. Sylvie was the best host you could ask for. She gave us lots of great recommendations for pretty villages to visit and amazing restaurants (one of which we loved so much that we went back again the next night - Restaurant Au Wasigenstein which is a cosy little place that does great French food and amazing desserts for a very reasonable price). It was also lovely that Sylvie was so flexible with check in and check out and she really did everything possible to make sure we had a great stay. We would definitely come back again :)

  • Great property in a lovely part of the country

We have just spent a week at Gite au Coin des Papillons for Christmas and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Elisabeth (the owner) is very friendly and helpful but not intrusive. She lives next door so very handy. Property was clean, well maintained and warm on arrival. There was a lovely log fire to use which we did every day. The house has everything you need for your holiday away from home. The bedrooms are good sized and so too are the bathrooms. There is a lovely living/dining area too. We visited Strasbourg (45mins-1hr away) and also some of the local villages. Windstein has 2 castles and some lovely walks around. There is lots of history in the area with the Maginot line running through most of the local area. Germany isn't far across the border so lots to see and do. Would highly recommend and we would love to go back and explore in the Spring/Summer time.
