  • Lovely stay in great location
    4 of 5

All in all a lovely place to stay in great location with easy access to the mountains, lakes and other tourist destinations. A couple of glitches that need to be fixed up. Positives - Lovely rustic chalet with great views and only a few minute walk from the little village of Tour d'Auvergne. Plenty of room for the 5 of us in both bedrooms and living space. Great views sitting outside for dinner. Supplied with all kitchen equipment you could need. Very clean, neat and tidy. Easy to get in touch with owner. The owner was very helpful when my phone would not work properly and contacted the local person to come and do the final inspection. Negatives Website said sheets and duvet covers were provided but they are not. The instructions sent out a few days before said they were not provided. This did not help my friends who were already travelling. Instructions were provided in French only and when I asked for English ones it was a pretty bad Google translation. This did not help with directions as we arrived in the dark. When I organised for the local contact person to come and check the place over before we left I was told there would be a 60 euro cleaning charge. This was not mentioned on the website or the instructions or in any fees payable. When I pointed this out I was told that it was on the French booking site but I had used the English one. This needs to be fixed up and made more transparent on the website. We cleaned the house ourselves and did not pay the fee.

  • A great property in a great location

The chalet was in a great location - a short walk from the town. The chalet was comfortable and had all the facilities you could wish for. We were a group of 4 so there was plenty of space for all of us. The kitchen had everything you needed and the fact that it was open plan was good so the person cooking was not left out of conversation. The showers were great and always hot. There was a large decked area with picnic table and the area got the sun until later afternoon. We bought our own deckchairs not sure if the ones in the outside storage area were for general use or not. The chalet has been very well looked after and was clean and well decorated and furnished as well with very comfortable beds. As for the area we went in order to do a mixture of road cycling and mountainbiking. The chalet is actually on a montain bike route and there are numerous routes in and around Mont Dore. There are also numerous Cols to climb which would keep any road cyclist happy although one of the main routes out of Mont Dore was close the week we were there :O( We also went over to Superbesse to do some Downhill mountainbiking and were very impressed with the trails there which were fast flowing and fun. All in all I would not hestitate to recommend both this Chalet and the beautiful area it is located in. Thank you Sophie for making us welcome.
