Pretty & Cool Village House - a great base for Exploring

5 of 5
This is an old stone house on the edge of a historic, fortified village. It's a peaceful location, and villagers will more likely greet you with a 'bonjour' than not. The house is well equipped, tastefully decorated and furnished; it stayed relatively cool despite 30+ outside temperatures. We liked the choice of outside seating areas that allowed us to choose sun or shade. It's a good road to Uzes, where there's plenty of hustle and bustle if you prefer, and some great old buildings and little individual shops. We had longer days out with trips to the Pont du Gard, Ardeche Gorge, Nimes, Avignon, Arles, Agde and Sete, as well as lots of drives around the local area. Still feel like we barely skimmed the surface. A great house, fascinating area - yes, we'd hope to go back one day.

Lovely property with a front row seat on the Place aux Herbes.

5 of 5
We were delighted when we discovered this property was available for a five night stay during our September travels in the south of France. Although the photographs provide an accurate preview to what you will find, it is even better. We were located on the first floor which meant just one short flight of stairs. The property is uniquely located between the Place and a shopping street which meant we enjoyed windows on two sides giving us not only morning sunlight but cross ventilation which was welcome during our warm days in late September 2018. Being designers we especially enjoyed the aesthetic of this property: the understated color palette, interesting stone and cabinets, bath fixtures and general simplicity. Although we enjoyed morning coffees and afternoon wines from the Languedoc, the kitchen was well stocked and certainly lent itself to dinner preparations. The Place aux Herbes is magical, a charming spirited atmosphere created by the cafes and restaurants and markets set up around the fountain during any given week. In September the light quality in the Place is outstanding with the reflection of the limestone from the surrounding buildings as well as the lightness of the bark of the ancient London Plane trees. Uzes, the property, and the Place aux Herbes definitely resonated. And, we look forward to a return visit in the near future. Merci beaucoup Dominique.......Anne & Lynn & Paul.
