A lovely gîte in a stunning location with wonderful hosts.

5 of 5
We can't thank Phil and Cyndi enough for all their kindness during our recent stay. Our holiday was severely disrupted by family illness back in the U.K. but they were so supportive and helpful. Sadly we were only able to stay a few days but we really loved the cottage and its tranquil garden. The cottage was clean, well equipped and provided everything you could possibly need. We would have no hesitation in recommending the gîte for anybody looking for a fabulous place to stay.

Highly Recommend!

We had a wonderful 10 day stay in the converted barn! I truly can't say enough about how clean and comfortable this adorable little place was. When we stepped inside the first time I thought it was actually nicer than it appeared in the photos. Cozy, just so cozy! The barn was immaculate and well furnished with everything we needed. We especially enjoyed breakfast and dinner on the patio looking out over the beautiful gardens! The converted barn definitely met and exceeded all of our expectations. John and Carolyn were amazing hosts, going out of their way to make sure we were comfortable and having a good holiday. They were full of information about the area, there in a flash when we had a problem with the door lock (repaired in a flash as well) and respectful of our privacy in every way. They genuinely cared about our stay in every way. St Jean de Cole was delightful and we ate at La Perla many times. The historical tour given from the Tourist Information office was excellent, even in the rain with umbrellas! We recommend near-by Brantome for restaurants as well, especially Côte Rivière. Our meals there were hands down the best of our entire 2 weeks in France! Be sure to tour the Abbey and ask about the bell tower tour in the Tourist Information office in Brantome. It's quite informative and interesting. Brantome is lovely just for a stroll through the market (it's been in the same spot on Friday's since the 1500's - read the plaque about it near the bridge) or visiting the Abbey and we found ourselves there many times. There is plenty to do in the area around St. Jean de Cole yet it's quiet and relaxing with the surrounding fields and forests. And I promise you won't be disappointed staying in the Converted Barn!
