Comfortable characterful gite up in the hills

4 of 5
This gite has superb views from a south facing balcony which would be a sun trap in good weather (we were unfortunate and had two unusually wet days out of four!). The cottage is small but there’s plenty of space for two people with comfortable twin beds and comfortable chairs in a sitting area. There is a very good modern shower in a wet room. The kitchen is quite well equipped with hob, dishwasher, washing machine and microwave/oven. There was a kettle for brits, and a coffee maker. The village is quiet and attractive, with walks from the door. Parking is 100 metres away at the entrance to the village. The cottage was a bit difficult to identify so it is a good idea to ring Fabienne on arrival. Although it is remote it is only half an hour on decent roads to a main route whence many attractions: castles, wineries, restaurants, villages, gorges etc etc. We had poor weather but could happily have stayed longer, and might like to return, perhaps a bit later in the spring. Excellent value for money! Thank you Fabienne.

Excellent getaway from daily grind

4 of 5
Excellent setting, lovely owner. Obviously this isn't 4 star living, but if you expect that, why have you booked to stay in an old gypsy caravan? Lovely bijou caravan and porch very well sheltered so spent most time there eating and drinking outside. The mountain setting is beautiful and the surrounding countryside is gorgeous. If the mountains are a bit damp (we went in October) then the beach is only 1.5 hrs away and the weather will be cracking there. Lots of great places to visit. Would definitely return. Barbara very helpful with suggestions of where to go and what o do and nothing too much trouble for her.
