Things to do in St Julien de Crempse, France

Surrounded by some of the finest scenery the region has to offer, St Julien de Crempse is a tiny village that sees little in the way of tourism. Amenities within the village centre are basic but adequate, with a small smattering of shops selling locally-produced items to cater for the 200 or so permanent residents and the odd tourist that decides to stray away from the more-visited destinations in the Dordogne.

Restaurants, bars, cafes and more shops are all just a short drive away, as well as larger supermarkets closer to the bigger towns and cities of the region, such as Bergerac.

The Bergerac area has an abundance of vineyards, and wine tasting is a popular option for filling the daytimes. This goes hand in hand with walking, hiking and other outdoor activities – making the most of the great weather found throughout large portions of the year in this part of France.

Relaxing stay in a beautiful gite!

5 of 5
We had a wonderful stay at Chez Le Vigneron with our two children. The accommodation itself is beautiful; classic in style, clean, comfortable beds and we had everything provided that we could possibly need. Although the weather was cold (we visited in January!) the gite was nice and cozy with a log fire and the owners even put electric blankets in the beds which was a thoughtful touch. The grounds are gorgeous and the family is lovely :) Thanks Karen, Rich, Arabella and Julia for a fantastic time!

Everything we had hoped for

5 of 5
We were two families with 3 kids each all under 14 and this house was perfect for us. As a group of ten we could ate outdoors nearly every night in the summer house - we drank wine while the kids battled it out for table tennis champ. Plenty of loungers and a lovely warm pool during the day meant that we didn't venture out much. We did go on a couple of walks across the fields and through the forest and in to the village close by for bread and a coffee every morning. The town of St Foy is lovely and the huge market on Saturday morning was great fun. Kids and adults like had a great time, adults especially enjoying long lie ins as a result of the shutters! Lovely.

A truly idyllic property

5 of 5
What an amazing, stunning and luxurious holiday home, we feel truly privileged to have stayed here. We have enjoyed numerous holidays in France, staying in a variety of lovely houses but we have never experienced these levels of spacious luxury living, peace, tranquillity and such a wonderful ambience anywhere, which combined with a wonderful welcome (and as mentioned by previous guests a truly outstanding welcome hamper) from owners Sarah and Graham - we know it will never be beaten as a destination to return to as often as we possibly can! As soon as you enter the gates you feel cosseted and around every corner, both inside and out, you are greeted by another wonderful view, topped off by the superbly situated pool in which we whiled away many happy hours. It was incredibly relaxing to spend our evenings on the gorgeous terrace with a glass of local wine after our meal watching the sun setting over the horizon and we were so lucky to have had the opportunity to spend two fantastic evenings with Graham and Sarah and their wonderful dogs, the gorgeous Boris and Mickey, who we worried our two teenage girls would smuggle home with us! We also loved seeing the gecko's around the garden, swallows diving over the pool and on our last morning watching deer feeding in the next door field......totally spellbinding. We did find time to venture out and particularly enjoyed visits to the stunning town of Sarlat, so atmospheric, a relaxing Dordogne river cruise on a traditional Gabarre, from La Roque Gageac and finally a wonderful day in St Emillion and an open top bus tour of the surrounding vineyards to fully appreciate where our wines originated!! As you can tell we would recommend Maison De Nicola without any reservations and will simply sum up by saying book now you won't ever regret it! Finally, and most importantly, we felt we arrived as clients and left this wonderful place with two great new friends. Thank you so much for letting us share your little piece of paradise Graham and Sarah, we can't wait to return.
