Stayed in la bourboule for a week. Snowed, rained then therein came out. However the house was always warm and we were able to wash and dry our clothes and stay warm. We travelled on a motorcycle from the UK.

  • Homely, fully equipped and cosy chalet

The gîte is fully equipped with lovely homely touches, really clean and comfortable and deceptively spacious. Gilles & Valerie are very helpful and there are plenty of guidebooks and leaflets in the gîte to borrow for the local area. Walks, cycle tracks, historic towns and of course the range of extinct volcanoes to explore. Rochefort Montagne, Mont-Doré and La Bourboule for food and light shopping; Clermont Ferrand for modern shopping and more historic buildings including a cathedral built from local volcanic stone. Great location in the countryside with opportunities to watch buzzards, red kites and eagles soaring overhead (they're very camera-shy!). Overall a fantastic tranquil location and temporary home.
