  • Beautiful villa with a beautiful view.
    5 of 5

We loved Christophe’s beautiful , spacious villa in Tarco . It had a huge garden with various places to sit in the sun and in the shade. The view of the Mediterranean from the windows , which stretch the full length of the house, was stunning; the sunrise spectacular. The beaches in October were empty . Our particular favourite , twenty minutes away, was immediately north of the river mouth at Solenzara. We were there almost every day. It was like a desert island paradise, with secluded coves , as well as a huge stretch of golden sand . We couldn’t believe how we sometimes had the beach entirely to ourselves. It had a great restaurant, right on the beach, Le Voile Rouge , where we often had lunch or went back to , in the evening for dinner . There are numerous great restaurants in the villages all along the coast , including Solenzara and at Sainte Lucie, In Casa was our favourite . I would definitely recommend Christophe’s villa as a great base to explore Corsica . We stayed the full month of October. The mountain passes directly west from Solenzara and Benifacio were our other favourite places to visit.

  • Superb apartment in a stunning location
    5 of 5

The apartment is a wow from the first glimpse of it. It is right at the end of the development with fabulous views from the wrap around terrace. To sit on the terrace overlooking the harbour, watching boats of all sizes come and go, glass of wine in hand became our favourite late afternoon activity. The terrace is huge, with two eating areas, sun loungers and comfy seating. There is a plancha, which is not the same as a BBQ and which we didn’t use, but looks intriguing. Inside, the apartment is well equipped. Beds are very comfortable as is the seating in the living area. Another large table if the weather is bad, which it wasn’t while we were there! The kitchen has very good quality equipment, all the basics, a decent range of pots, pans, crockery and cutlery. The shower in the main bathroom is great. The windows, on two sides of the main room open up so that the general feel is spacious, light and airy. There is air con but we didn’t use it as we preferred to have the windows open. The pool is beautiful and the little beach right in front easy to get to, if rather rocky. But the water was warm and clear. There is a boulangerie for croissants, bread and delicious fruit tarts less than 5 minutes walk away. A small Spar supermarket almost next door to it, and, lining the harbour road, lovely restaurants which all seem to serve giant ice cream concoctions and very good cocktails. Solenzara is small, and peaceful, but there are other places to visit within an hours drive. Olivier was easily contactable and helpful as was Laurence, who looked after us while we were there. We had a wonderful week here and would very much like to return next year.
