My wife and I chose to stay in this property during our recent visit to the Loire Valley area and it proved to be an excellent decision. The property is charming, very comfortable and well equipped and is situated in a quiet village just a few Kilometres from Blois. There is an excellent Boulangerie practically on the doorstep, a supermarket five minutes away by car and any number of chateau and small towns/villages to visit within easy driving distance, and the owners (Valerie and Frederic, who are a lovely couple) made us feel so welcome that the house really felt like a “home from home”. I would certainly recommend this property to anyone planning to visit this area of France.
My wife and I stayed here for a week in the middle of September with our 2yr old son. The owners are lovely and speak very good English. They left us to ourselves but were there if we needed anything.
It was a very comfortable and characterful house with a beautiful walled garden on one side and a shared courtyard garden on the other (shared with the owners who live in the main house). We often strolled around the walled garden with a glass of wine in the evenings. We had breakfast and lunch (some days) at the outside dining table - it’s sun catching for the first part of the day and just a peaceful place to sit and clear your mind. There are pigs, which are in a pen close by and kept our son entertained through the day and in the courtyard garden are chickens and rabbits.
The pool (which is heated) is beyond a gate, which is great so our son couldn’t just escape from the cottage and run into it. The pool is located so you can retain privacy from the owners in their garden - just watch out for the fig tree close by as it has wasps and hornets flying around the fallen fruit all day. They didn’t bother us but it is a little unnerving when you have a toddler. There is also plenty of choice of outdoor furniture too; including a hammock.
It can get quite cold at night so there is a fireplace you can use. We didn’t bother but it’s certainly good to know.
The storage in the kitchen and bedrooms is great. There is a bathroom with Jack and Jill doors, which is handy and the house generally is well equipped.
A supermarket is 15mins away, which is also open on Sunday mornings and Blois, Chateau du Chambord and Cheverny are all pretty close by. If you’re interested in visiting Zooparc Beauval, which is very impressive it is a bit of a drive away but well worth the visit - you may want to buy a two-day ticket if you’re staying long enough as it is a huge place to walk around. (In six hours we saw about two thirds of it). Enjoy!
