Seignosse is a French holiday destination with something for everyone. On the one hand this attractive coastal village in the Landes department has a vibrant beach, some great restaurants and an active nightlife – whilst on the other it has unspoilt countryside, two beautiful lakes and a peaceful old centre. Things to do in Seignosse, France

The action in Seignosse is centred around two main areas. The first is the town centre, which is essentially a peaceful old village that is so typical of the region, with a series of quaint buildings such as the local church, and a decent selection of basic amenities to be enjoyed.

The second main area of attraction is the beach, which lies a couple of kilometres from the town and is considerably more built up than the village. This is where you will find a selection of busier bars, cafes, restaurants and even a late-hours nightclub – perfect for a fun night out after an active day or swimming, surfing and sunbathing.

Outdoor activities are a popular part of any visit to Seignosse, with a particularly good area for this being around the two lakes that lie to the north of the town centre. A range of water-related activities can be enjoyed on these waters – such as fishing and sailing, and the surrounded woodland is perfect for days of hikes, walks and horse riding.

Places to visit on holiday in Seignosse, France

There are many interesting towns and villages to visit when staying in Seignosse accommodation and the use of a hire car is recommended in order to get around. Moliets et Maa (22km) is a popular countryside stop-off, with a range of outdoor activities to be enjoyed in its boundaries. The town of Hossegor is another option, and is particularly popular with surfers due to its beaches and strong currents.

The hottest months in which to visit Seignosse are July and August, when the daily average temperature is a pleasant 22°C and peak temperatures can reach 30°C. Any time between March and September is a good time for a visit though, and this is also the period in which most activities and attractions are open for business.

Travel to Seignosse, France

Biarritz Airport (BIQ), or Biarritz – Anglet – Bayonne Airport to give it its full name, is 50km to the south and the nearest airport to Seignosse. Low cost airlines Ryanair and easyJet both fly to this destination, with regular departures from Birmingham, Bristol, London Gatwick and London Stansted – though some of these only go at certain times of the year.

Loved this place. Very nice bedrooms with shutters so you can keep cool. Lovely terrace overlooking park. Well equipped kitchen. Would definitely like to return. Best of all the beach is literally round the corner Liz Chasteauneuf and family

Fantastic location a few steps from the beach

A lovely house with an enclosed garden, private off road parking, air conditioning and all mod cons. The house is only seconds away from a beautiful clean beach. The owner Reine met us on our arrival and gave us comprehensive information and a really good welcome (including our dog). She lives in Capbretton and is always available by phone if you have any questions. Prior to us travelling to France, she was extremely helpful with the booking. The garden has shade and sun somewhere throughout the day so would suit everyone. The area has many attractions and is extremely bike and walking friendly. We will without doubt go the Le Cottage again. We had a wonderful two weeks barbequing the wonderful fish that is available at the market, eating out (loved the Touring Café in Hossegor) There are good restaurants within walking distance too if you don't fancy the short drive to Hossegor. Great choice for us.
