Peaceful and lovely surroundings

5 of 5
Great house and garden. Line was very helpful and her suggestions for visits were spot on. The village itself is very quite as are the roads in the whole area. This is the place to come for peace and tranquillity. Easy to pop over the Belgian border for the Orval abbey brews as well. People buy it by the bootfull when you are there! Reims and Verdun are within a hours drive as are some very nice Meuse towns such as Dinant. On a warm day the Lake in Bairon is great and has a nice lakeside restaurant to sit out in. The only downside is there are no cafes or bars in Vendresse which is a shame as clearly the place is big enough to have had them at one time. The only shop is a Boulangerie (which is very good).

A stunning stay in a castle that my son said he never want's to leave

4 of 5
We stayed at the Castle, which was easy to find and surrounded by lovely authentic french villages. The castle itself was very comfortable and both inside and outside relaxation areas are more than aduqate for very large parties. The castle is surrounded by a mote and you really feel like you're a part of the history. Some little negatives that stopped me from giving 5 stars, were due to the mote the huge number of flies was quite offputting and it would have been great to have seen a electric fly catcher light in both the kitchen and outside. Also the kitchen was quite small when preparing meals for large parties. However Stephanie was wonderfully accomidating in all we asked of her, the house and surrounding areas provided us with more than enough stuff to do had our visit been four times as long. I would highly recommend people stay here as it's simply beautiful, and I'm sure we will return one day.
