Beautiful provençal village house

5 of 5
We stayed in 'la maison du four' for the whole of November. We often spend a month in the autumn in the south of France and this was the best property we have rented. The house is full of character and beautifully furnished, in a way which is appropriate to the environment, but also very comfortable. The kitchen has everything you need, even for a long stay like ours. The terrace enjoyed several hours of sun even at this time of year and the view over the Luberon landscape was lovely. The views from the house windows down over the roofs towards the château were also charming. We enjoyed some lovely evenings in front of a roaring fire in the lounge as well. The location is ideal - a short walk to the village centre which has everything you need, especially the friendly Café de la Poste, which really is the hub of village life. Another short walk takes you up to the windmill, from where there are spectacular views over the surrounding countryside and many footpaths leading off through the forested hills. The village of Goult is perfect for an autumn stay. It is a real village, rather than a tourist trap, but is still one of the most beautiful in the area. The house is also perfectly situated for visiting the area which is absolutely spectacular, particularly with the wonderful autumn colours everywhere. There are many restaurants in the area which are still open at this time of year, including the Carillon in the village, as well as a couple down in the valley at nearby Lumières. You really could not imagine a better place for an autumn stay in the south of France!

Great village location

5 of 5
We had a lovely stay in this comfortable house, which is very conveniently situated on the edge of Faucon. We enjoyed being able to walk to the excellent boulangerie and to the nearby restaurants, where we had some delicious meals. One of us also enjoyed pleasant walks on the quiet little roads and tracks in the surrounding countryside. Nathalie provided a warm welcome and looked after us very well. We loved renewing our acquaintance with the surrounding towns and villages (especially Vaison and Nyons) and revisiting favourite vineyards and co-ops, as well as some excursions to places we hadn't visited before (such as Buis-les-Baronnies). The onion tart at La Loupiote (on the road out of Vaison towards Carpentras) remains the best we've ever had! We left Faucon laden with lovely wines and Nyons olives. The weather was beautiful most of the time, though we did have one or two exciting thunderstorms. It's the first time we have stayed in a house without a fireplace and we would certainly have missed that if we had had more rainy or chilly days - a fire is cheerful even if not strictly needed for warmth! We had been slightly concerned beforehand about potential noise from the road. In fact this bothered us very little; the only disturbance came from a village party celebrating the end of the grape harvest and this seemed well justified! We noted some previous comments about noise from agricultural activities - these were no more than you would expect in any village or country location and did not bother us in the slightest. The house is well-equipped. We prefer a cafetiere (press) rather than a coffee machine, so we bought one and donated it for the benefit of future visitors. We also added to the collection of clothes pegs!

Perfection in Provence

5 of 5
We cannot recommend this place highly enough - in over a decade of holidaying every year in the Luberon this is the best place we have found. It combines a stunning interior with a lovely garden and pool area. It is in grounds large enough to offer complete privacy and solitude but with a village just a few minutes drive away with a bakery, butcher and a good choice of places to eat. Well situated for many of the fantastic markets and for anyone who is a wine lover the options are endless. We are returning for our third stay next year.
