Make a holiday villa in Santa Giulia your home away from home

Santa Giulia is considered one of South Corsica’s prime beach destinations. It is a small community 7kms south of Porto Vecchio mainly consisting of luxury hotels and services around a picturesque and busy marina. The holiday villas of Santa Giulia sit along the foreshore either close to the ocean front or set back in the maquis covered foothills that skirt the beautiful lagoon type bay. HomeAway presents an excellent selection of holiday villas in Santa Giulia along with apartments and bungalows, all of which are comfortable and well maintained. From small family apartments to luxury villas with private pool, there’s holiday accommodation to suit everyone.

Things to do

Whether it’s lazy days recharging the batteries or the adventure of a lifetime that is required, all will be covered in Santa Giulia. Active or resting, there is going to be something to fill every minute of every day when visiting Santa Giulia.

-The beach is stunningly beautiful and visitors have likened it any that would be found in the Caribbean. The beach is definitely the major reason people choose holiday villas in Santa Giulia. The sand is silver white and sugar soft and the waters clear and warm. It is possible to swim out to the reef and many parts of the sea are shallow enough for children to paddle and play. Surrounded by Juniper pines and mountains, there is a place to shade when the sun becomes too much.

-Watersports are popular in Santa Giulia and all major sports are catered for. The sailing centres are the best in the region and boat trips can be easily arranged. Beginners are not forgotten as lessons are provided and surfboarding and sailing can be taught in English or German. For a more relaxing session, pedaloes are for hire, and by way of contrast, the more adventurous can hire a motorboat and explore the small coves of Santa Giulia bay.

-The Alta Rocco region provides idyllic sanctuary in the mountains a short drive from holiday homes in Santa Giulia. It is a chance to be away from the crowds that often throng the beach and take part in a variety of sports. Peaceful fishing and horse-riding can be provided while quad bikes can also be hired. For those who have tired of so much activity there are beautiful rock pools and the option to picnic near to the river. Hikers will be spoiled for choice when it comes to deciding which way to go. If it is granite boulders and pines that are required then it is the Ospedale Forest and Lake, while climbers will be happier at Col de Bavella where stunning views can be found- especially the Aiguilles de Bavella. Zonzo is a prime example of an Alta Rocco mountain visit and no trip to the area should miss out this experience.

-Porto Vecchio is one of the main towns of Southern Corscia and is a distinguished, historic port and stylish resort area, often called the “St. Tropez of Corsica”. The Old Town is full of interesting buildings as well as a terrific selection of bars, cafes and restaurants and some excellent boutiques. The marina is usually full of sleek international yachts and the bay has a fair share of beautiful beaches. The town tourist office is full of information about the best places to visit in Porto Vecchio and being such a short distance from holiday bungalows in Santa Giulia, there’s plenty of opportunity to explore.

-Bonifacio is at the southern tip of Corsica and is the place to enjoy the harbour and also visit the medieval citadel. It does not have to be all culture as there is also excellent restaurants and bars to go with the dramatic scenery and sense of history.

The Weather in Santa Giulia

When visiting during the summer there will be plenty of daylight time to see the sites. There is around 12 hours of sunshine and the temperature will regularly reach around 30F.

Getting to Santa Giulia

The nearest international airport to Santa Giulia is Corsica’s main airport in Ajaccio. The travel distance from there is 87 miles so it is best to hire a car for your journey to your Santa Giulia holiday villa.

Modern and comfortable house well located near the nicest beaches

5 of 5
We just spent a brilliant week with another family of 4 in Pierre's house. The house itself has modern amenities and well equipped for cooking or laundry, which is not always the case for rental houses. It's spacious and can accommodate 8 people (we were 4 adults and 4 children) easily without feeling crammed. The kids especially loved the pool (which is nicely heated) and the jacuzzi, and made good use of all the swimming toys available. Location wise, the house is in a quiet neighbourhood, within a short drive of Porto Vecchio and more importantly within reach of the nicest beaches (Santa Giulia, Palombaggia, Saint Cyprien, etc.) which allowed us to try them all every day. It's also very close to the supermarkets and other convenience stores (bakeries, pharmacy). The owner is very welcoming and willing to help. If we had to point out a weakness, it would be the absence of sea view, but as it's so easy to drive to the beach we didn't really miss it to be honest!
