Things to do

From churches to harbours to places to relax, there will be something everyone can enjoy when visiting Sainte Marguerite sur Mer. The holiday homes in Sainte Marguerite sur Mer are an excellent choice for discovering the best of Normandy.

-Les Jardins le Vasterival are a favourite with all visitors, not just green fingered garden lovers. There is plenty to see including hellebores, maples, hydrangeas and conifers.

-Dieppe is a place that deserves to be seen in full and while much is only from the 18th Century, the buildings are spectacular. It’s an easy trip being less than 15 kilometres from most holiday villas in Sainte Marguerite sur Mer. Literature lovers can visit the Café des Tribuaux which was frequented by many famous writers and artists. As expected there are a number of churches including Saint-Remi and Saint-Jacques. One building surviving since the 15th century is the medieval chateau that is now the Musee de Dieppe. It houses ivories and works by Renoir and Delacroix. After the culture tour there are restaurants at the harbour and a beach but it only shows sand at low tide.

-Saint-Valery-En-Caux is a better option for a day at the beach than Sainte Marguerite sur Mer if you prefer sand to pebbles. It is well looked after and has become a vibrant resort with facilities able to cope with many visitors. Thanks to the floral displays it is considered to be a 4* ville fleurie. The tourist office is a pleasure to see as the “Henry IV house” is half timbered in the traditional style. On less sunny days there is a casino and swimming pool. To keep the historical theme, there is the Church of Saint Valery from the 15th C and the lighthouse decked out in green and white.

-Fecamp is the place for dramatic scenery and is a popular day trip from Sainte Marguerite holiday villas. Tourism is growing but fishing is still the main economic activity. Benedictine liquor is made here so a trip to the distillery will be in order. As expected there are historical places to visit such as the 12th Century Abbatiale Church of Saint-Trinity and the ruins of the Palace of the Dukes of Normandy.

-Clères Zoo will enthral children and adults alike. There are mainly birds – estimated to be around 1800 - and 200 animals. The zoo is about 37 kilometres from Sainte Marguerite but it’s worth the day trip especially as it is widely accepted that Cleres Zoo houses one of the best bird collections in the world.

The Weather in Sainte Marguerite sur Mer

Charming cottage in Normandy.

4 of 5
We stayed here for a week in early September. We found the cottage perfectly homely and clean, no issues with mice. The rooms were well laid out and very comfortable, it was peaceful and quiet. But the yippy dog next door was a nuisance sometimes but the owners sorted him out. We did have some issues with the loo and intermittent flushing, not sure if the cistern efficiently refills itself. The shower was lovely, plenty of hot water. Having the TV was a nice surprise as some evenings were wet and damp so it was great to have some indoor entertainment. The pictures did freeze occasionally but it certainly did not annoy us. I would recommend the owner retake some outside pics as much of the back garden and patio area is overgrown. The patio area as advertised is not representative of whats currently there. This are really niggles. Glenys always promptly answered e mails and Nadine was lovely and kind to us when we arrived. This place is authentically Normandy and it was great to stay in such a characterful wee house. I would heartily recommend this place to people.

Everything was Perfect

5 of 5
The accommodation was excellent, entry, kitchen, dining, bathroom, living room on the ground floor, and a large bedroom up the stairs. Everything we could need was supplied, from kitchen utensils to writing paper on the desk! Books and games in the living room. Everything was brand new and the flat was 100% clean. There is nothing negative to be said, all was wonderful. We would definitely stay there again.
