  • Charming Old House in Charente
    5 of 5

The house and courtyard were very peaceful and private. The house was well-equipped and comfortable. Our hosts were helpful and friendly. There was plenty to see in the area: we especially enjoyed the excellent museum in the small village of Tusson. Altogether it proved to be a very successful Autumn holiday.

What a wonderful holiday! The property is perfect for a young family. The mezzanine level for the kids was perfect. The low ceiling means nothing to a 6 & 8 year old! They had "their" space. The beds are comfortable and even in 36 degree heat the house was cool. All the facilities we required were there and if there was an issue, Christine was always very helpful. Nothing was too much trouble. Always there, but never intrusive. The garden was amazing. The pool superb. The hosts were great. Christine was a pleasure to meet along with her family. A nice bonus for my children was a the couple of days when Christine's grandchildren were staying with her. It was lovely to see them all play together, even without a common language. There is so much to explore and see in the local area. Angouleme, Cognac, a train trip to Bordeaux, the Roman baths at Cassinomagus and the waterpark Nautilus near Angouleme. But, if you wanted, you could just sit back and relax by the pool. Highly recommended The Hallett family Dan, Liz, Evie and William
