Make A Holiday Rental Cottage in Saint-Thelo, France, Your Home Away From Home

Saint-Thelo is a small village located approximately 30 kilometres from the Brittany coast in France, and just a few kilometres outside the larger town of Loudeac. A holiday rental cottage in Saint-Thelo is the perfect base from which to explore the Brittany region by day, and relax in comfort at night. With all the mod-cons that you would expect from a quality rental, this is more of a home-away-from-home than a characterless hotel room will ever be.

Things to Do on Holiday in Saint-Thelo, France

The beauty of the French countryside will soon invite you to partake in any number of outdoors pursuits. One day, you might find yourself fishing along a river bank, and the next, you might be on a half day horse ride. Walkers and cyclists will be pleased with the varied routes that they can take, and Lake Guerledan is a centre for all manner of water-based activities. If this wasn’t enough, there is also a golf course within 30 minutes’ drive of the holiday rental cottage in Saint-Thelo.

Places to Visit on Holiday in Saint-Thelo, France

There are so many places to visit in this area of France, that you could probably only skim the surface during a two week holiday in Saint-Thelo. With the use of a car, you could drive along the fabulous pink granite coast, and marvel at the unique cliffs, before reaching the town of St. Malo. A trip to Le Mont St Michel is also recommended, and this outstanding monastery is well deserving of its UNESCO world heritage status. The medieval towns of Dinan and Moncontour can also be visited, and there are dozens of chateaux scattered throughout the region, all deserving of further investigation.

Weather in Saint-Thelo, France

Most people choose to book self catering accommodation in Saint-Thelo during the summer months, as the weather is by far at its best then. Expect the temperatures to be consistently above 20 degrees Celsius, and on occasion even touch 28 degrees during the hotter days. Rain is minimal at this time of year, as most of the annual 25 inches falls during the autumn and winter. Winter temperatures can reach as low as freezing in the very coldest months, but more normally average at 9 degrees.

Travel to Saint-Thelo, France

It is quite possible to drive from the UK to France using a ferry to cross the channel from Poole to Cherbourg, and this will then give the use of a car during your holiday in Saint-Thelo. This can be a great benefit in seeing the Brittany region, and saves on the cost of hiring a car. The other alternative is to fly, and possibly the best airport to use would be at Rennes Saint Jacques (RNS). A small regional airport, its options are limited to the smaller airline Flybe, who operate flights from Manchester (MAN), Southampton (SOU), Exeter (EXT) and Edinburgh (EDI).

A superb holiday house.

5 of 5
Our family includes five grandchildren: one five year old, three three year olds and a one year old. We have been taking an annual holiday as an extended family for many years and this has been, by far, the best one we have had. Everything you see on the website is as good as it seems or better when you actually experience it and I have to say that the attention to detail and care that is shown by the owners, Chris and Sue, is second to none. Everything is immaculately clean and well kept, with the largest array of facilities for children that you could imagine. I can honestly say that we were never short of something to do with them, whether it was riding bikes and a range of other kiddie vehicles around the extensive, smooth, tarmac courtyard, picking fruit in the orchard, using the immaculate pool, playing table tennis or having a game of ball on the massive field. We enjoyed using the excellent range of bikes provided and were able to access the amazing Rigole d'Hilvern cycling/walking route that runs through the attractive, quiet village of Le Quillio, along which our five year old grandson happily cycled nearly six miles only a couple of months after learning to ride a bike without stabilisers. We took his bike from home, which was a good move, as he was a bit too small for the bikes provided. The attractive Brittany coast proved to be a relatively short drive away and Dinan was an interesting and attractive place to visit for the older members of the party. We used the Portsmouth - Cherbourg fast ferry, which worked out really well for us, as we combined this with a hotel stay in Cherbourg on the way down and a hotel stay in Portsmouth on the way home. To finish off this review I would just like to mention how welcoming and helpful Chris and Sue were. They have clearly mastered the art of being friendly and available whilst not imposing their presence on you, and they have immaculate standards for equipping, maintaining and cleaning their outstanding holiday accommodation.
