Wonderful Holiday

5 of 5
This property has every comfort from home and more whatever age you are. The owners go out of their way to make your stay enjoyable and stress free. If you have children there are wonderful facilities if not every comfort inside and out with swimming pool. Close to places to visit and Le Mans only 30 minutes away and the roads are fantastic. Lovely town nearby, Evron with supermarket, farmers markets and restaurants. We would highly recommend this property for a stay at any time of year.

Big, old, utterly rural farmhouse with fantastic pool

5 of 5
We had a really good week here! This place was amply big enough for our party of 4 adults and 2 children. It is totally on its own amidst crop and pasture land 10 minutes drive from the nearest village (butchers, bakers keeping typically French opening hours. Indeed, as mid-August is slap bang in the middle of the French holiday season we found that about 1/4 of all cafes, restaurants and shops were closed for the season! Part of the attraction is that this is not really tourist France and English was the exception rather than the rule. There are a number of small towns and villages within easy driving distance which are worth a visit and each small town has its own supermarket which have excellent opening times. Le Mans is probably the largest town within reach - an easy 40 minute drive away. We absolutely loved the swimming pool and were surprised by how big it is. The pool cover (easy enough to take off and put on) kept it beautifully warm and it was exceptionally well-maintained by the property manager. On sunny days it was really hot round the pool and the kids spent ages in the water. The house is very well appointed - settees in the living room were comfortable, the kitchen had all the equipment, utensils and machinery you could want. In our experience the living room would benefit from better lighting for that post 9pm period. The TV provided British Freeview channels and the games and books provided in the house were welcome. We were pleasantly surprised to find a small "Welcome Pack" waiting for us - milk, butter, bread, wine, toilet paper which we were not expecting. The owners should advertise this as it is very much a plus point. There was a wide variety of cleaning equipment, tea towels and just enough hand towels to get by. I would say the lack of bath towels (which we knew about) is a negative point as we had to bring a load with us from UK. Sleeping arrangements offer great flexibility, although bedroom furniture is getting a bit tatty. There was unlimited hot water for baths and showers. The photos and information on HomeAway give a good representation of the property and communication with the owners was swift and reliable. Their local "manager" is a star!
