Fabulous peaceful setting and a gorgeous pool

We had a fabulous week in La Grange. The house is spacious and the pool is beautifully maintained. Our children spent every possible minute swimming, and there are plenty of sun loungers around the pool for lazing around and drying off. The local village of Aulnay is very sweet, with a good bakery and a Sunday morning market. We also sampled the local fish and chip van one evening - a long queue, but worth the wait. There is an excellent supermarket about 5 minutes drive from the house. We visited St Jean d'Angely, which is a very pretty town with a great market (wonderful crepes), and Saintes, which has a fantastic Roman ampitheatre. Doreen and Jim are just next door and very friendly and helpful. We really enjoyed our holiday here and definitely recommend La Grange.

A wonderful, compact little home from home

                      5 of 5
It was a real pleasure to stay at Red Apple Cottage. We had two wonderful weeks here and didn't want to leave! The owners were kindness itself and had thought of everything. The location is perfect for exploring this wonderful part of France and we will definitely be back. The proximity to Saintes and St Jean d'Angely, as well as the beautiful village of Saint Savinien just down the road, make it an excellent location. The gardens were very secure for our two dogs and the cottage is extremely well-equipped as well as very comfortable. Overall this was the best holiday we have ever had and we loved every minute of it.
