This accommodation is very clean and comfortable and the owners are most friendly and helpful but are also very discreet. We highly recommend this gite.
Huisseau sur Cosson is very quiet but is an excellent base for walking, cycling and sight seeing by car.
Weather was very good not a drop of rain so all in all a brilliant holiday.
We were 4 adults staying for a week in May 2018.The location of the property is good, only a short walk to the centre of town where there are lots of bars and restaurants, and a boulangerie just across the road, and a better one just a couple of minutes down the road. The property is not recognisable from the road as it is behind the the houses on the road, accessed via a passage way, making the property quiet and peaceful. The garden is great, with raised decking, patio and grassed area, and a charcoal BBQ which we managed to use once, despite the not so great weather we had.
The kitchen is a reasonable size, and was well equipped (cooker, microwave, kettle, toaster, coffee maker, etc.) and plenty of room to sit around the table.
There was a downstairs toilet, with a bathroom and toilet upstairs. Bathroom has a bath with shower, and washing machine is in the bathroom. Property was supplied with 4 bath towels, and one hand towel
The bedrooms were also a reasonable size, the one with the double bed had a large chest of drawers for storage, but no hanging space/wardrobe. The other (slightly larger) bedroom had two single beds, and a large fitted wardrobe.
The property also came with two (fairly new looking) bicycles, which we didn't end up using.
There is lots of free on-road parking near the property, but it is a bit hit and miss. Sometimes (most times) we managed to park quite close, but other times we had to park a few streets away .
The things that were not quite so good.
When we arrived the weather was not great, so we asked how (if required) we could turn the heating up. We were told "you can't", it is controlled via an internet connection, and only the owner can turn it up or down ?
One of the electrical sockets was hanging off the wall, and once when we plugged the iron in , the circuit breakers tripped out.
The lady that met us at the house, wasn't that familiar with how any of the appliances worked, and suggested contacting the owner. (E.G. she told us you could get English language TV (e.g. CNN), but did not know how, and we never managed to find)
The DVD would not play any of our English DVDs , so we bought a cheap DVD player from the Leclerc on the outskirts of town - which worked fine.
The glass shower enclosure on the bath was not fitted properly, with the rubber "lip", not resting on the bath. This meant that whenever you took a shower, no matter how carefully, the bathroom floor got quite wet.
Overall - would recommend.
