Make A Holiday Rental House in Sabran, France, Your Home Away From Home

Sabran is a small French village situated in the Gard department of southern France. If the thought of hundreds of package tourists makes you shudder, then you will be in for a treat here. This charming, peaceful place has no crowds of holiday makers, and accommodation comes in the form of a holiday rental house in Sabran. Well furnished, decorated and maintained, it is quite literally a home away from home, and the perfect place to unwind and explore this interesting region of France at your own pace.

Things to Do on Holiday in Sabran, France

Whilst the emphasis is on the quietness of the countryside, there is certainly no lack of activities to try should you wish to do so. Walking and cycling prove to be an excellent way of absorbing the quiet atmosphere, and you can also take a half or full day’s horse riding trek. Another popular activity in this area is to take a canoe trip down one of the rivers, where the spectacular scenery can be admired from a unique angle. Some other suggestions of things to do include swimming, fishing, golf, caving and climbing. For a full range of water based activities, the coast is only an hour’s drive away, and you could soon be windsurfing, sailing or diving.

Places to Visit on Holiday in Sabran, France

By taking self catering accommodation in Sabran, you are also conveniently placing yourself near a number of interesting places to visit in the area. One of these is La Roque-sur-Ceze, which is a small village of medieval origins, and often classed as one of the most beautiful in France. Another interesting village to visit is Aigueze which lies on the banks of the River Ardeche. Again, it has medieval origins, and the remains of a large castle can still be seen. A little farther away, and with its origins even further back in time, is the town of Orange. There are two impressive Roman remains that can still be seen, and these are the triumphal arch and the amphitheatre. Both have been well-preserved over the centuries, and in fact, during the summer, opera performances are still held in the amphitheatre.

Weather in Sabran, France

Because of its southerly location, a holiday in Sabran will more often than not be accompanied by excellent weather, especially during the summer months. From May through to September, the weather is at its best, with day time average highs of 27 degrees Celsius commonplace. During the winter, the temperature is lower, but still warmer than the UK at the same time of year. Even in December and January, day time highs of 12 degrees can be enjoyed.

Travel to Sabran, France

The two main options when considering how to travel to your holiday rental house in Sabran are to fly or to drive. If you are considering driving, then you should allow at least a 10 how journey by car from the port at Calais. If you would prefer to fly, then the best airport to use would be the large one at Marseille (MRS). There are many connections in and out of here, with the British Airways flights from London Gatwick (LGW) being of interest to many.

Magical

5 of 5
This is a very beautiful house with an extraordinary atmosphere. Set in vineyards in a tiny village, it is remote yet very close to Nimes, Pont Du Gard & all the Unesco Heritage Sites around there. It's also WINE COUNTRY - Chateau Neuf du Pape around the corner and a fantastic independent vigneron in the village (and I mean fantastic - try the reds and the pudding wine). The house is completed to a very high spec with a beautiful kitchen/dining room opening out onto a lovely terrace. The bedrooms are very romantic - two of them open onto a terrace/balcony. We arrived, 2 exhausted parents, 3 children and a great auntie and had a lovely and unusually restorative time - which we think due to the wonderful terroir as well as the beauty of the place. nb. Local shops are good - great butcher, baker, good alimentation & not too far from supermarkets for those boring 'big' shops.

A lovely property in a typical French village.

4 of 5
The accommodation was excellent and very spacious as there were only two of us! The garden and pool were delightful. The house was very well equipped and we anted for nothing. We had a problem with the TV but Agnes, the housekeeper, dealt with it efficiently and quickly. The village has everything you need including 2 very good bakers with an excellent selection of bread and pastries. However we were expecting to be able to walk to collect our bread every morning but, owing to the steady climb back to the house, it would have taken a lot longer than 20 minutes. We looked for a short cut but did not find one so we used the car. We spent most afternoons by the pool and were blessed with fine weather. We did have a bit of noise from the neighbours, one side had a small baby who seemed to cry rather a lot and on the other side there was a lot of car movement. However this did not spoil our overall enjoyment of our holiday although we expected neighbours to be a bit further from our house. We have visited this region many times and Connaux did not disappoint. We found several very good places to eat where the people were always friendly. However a knowledge of French is needed as many places did not speak much English. This enhanced our holiday as we enjoy using the local language. We would recommend this property to others and it is perfect for groups especially those with children as the pool is wonderful.
