Sablet Holiday Homes

Make a holiday rental home or cottage in Sablet, France your home away from home.

Sablet, France

Sablet is a traditional Provencal village that lies to the west of Mont Ventoux, in the Haut Vaucluse department of south-eastern France. The village makes for a popular holiday rental destination for those seeking a holiday of relaxation in the heart of this unspoilt region, and almost any activity can be perfectly complemented with a glass of the fantastic local wine. Why not book your Sablet holiday rental cottage in advance and look forward to a week or two of sunshine, relaxation and top vintages?

Things to do in Sablet, France

The centre of Sablet is, like many Provencal villages, a mass of narrow, winding streets and shaded lanes. Passageways wind round in a circular formation, and open up to reveal a number of interesting old buildings, such as the 12th century St Nazaire church, which is cunningly hidden along one of the narrowest streets of them all. Around the outside of Sablet are the old 14th century ramparts and towers, and a lazy day or two can be easily spent enjoying the attractions that the village centre has to offer.

Once you head outside of the centre of Sablet you will discover a lush and green landscape which is ripe for climbing, walking, hiking and mountain biking. Vineyards are found in this part of France in their droves, and a wine-tasting excursion is a must if you have even a small penchant for the fruity reds, delicious whites and roses that the Cotes du Rhone produces.

July is not only the hottest month and the most popular with tourists, but also the time of the annual book festival. Wine, as ever, is a big feature of this event, and this is a great time in which to visit Sablet.

Places to visit on holiday in Sablet, France

The neighbouring village of Gigondas (4km to the south) is revered for its wine production, and is perhaps the best place to start a wine-tasting holiday in the region. Vineyards in Gigondas produce over five million bottles every year, so there are plenty to choose from! For something a little different consider a day trip to Orange (17km), which is the home of huge and awe-inspiring Roman theatre which hosts classical performances throughout the summer.

Weather in Sablet, France

The climate in Sablet and the surrounding Haut-Vaucluse region is perfect for wine production. This means long, hot summers with temperatures of above 30°C, along with mild winters. June, July and August are the hottest months and also the most popular with foreign tourists, so book you Sablet holiday villa well in advance for these times, to avoid disappointment.

A perfect home base to discover all of Provence

5 of 5
Could anything be more charming than Pippa’s place in Sablet? Pictures can’t do justice to the uniqueness and character of what she has created within the walls of this enchanted medieval village. An amazing view over all of Provence through the windows from every room as you sit atop the remparts of the medieval walls. Perfectly decorated with charming antiques blended with creature comforts and top of the line appliances and lighting. The kitchen complete with everything you need to cook at home and create your own meals with local ingredients from the abundant local markets in every village. Choose the right day for your day trips and you can find one every day of the week. She has a perfect location just inside the residential area of the village. While local vehicles can make it through the tiny laneways, it’s made for foot traffic and all the services are located surrounding the village, which makes it the perfect place to live. You have your privacy, few tourists walking through and services just steps away. Parking is EASY. Not said for most places we stayed anywhere in France. Internet fast, landline available, lovely private outdoor living area a sweet bonus. A perfect home base to discover all of Provence north of the sea. Day trips to Seguret, Vaison la Romaine, Orange, L'Isle-sur-la-Sorgue, Saint Remy de Provence, Les Baux, Arles, Orange, Gigondas, Beaumes de Venise, Nimes, just to name a few. Stay a week, ~ you’ll need it. Lastly, it was MOST helpful that Pippa speaks multiple languages and English fluently. Others I tried to book with found my questions about parking, fees, security deposits frustrating, I think because they were not comfortable speaking English. Pippa was the most friendly, patient, accommodating and communicative of all our hosts. Many mahalos from your Hawaii guests. We hope to see you in our part of the world some day.

Great family acommodation in unique village

4 of 5
Perfect setting to explore the Cote Du Rhones region, fantastic restaurants and villages nearby. Accommodation was gorgeous, clean and unique being in the ramparts. Great for families and good location for day trips to Vaison la romain, Ventoux and many others. Access to bikes was a bonus. Sablet itself had everything including bakeries and restaurant options.

Relaxing in Provence

5 of 5
A wonderful holiday in a great area of France, staying in just the best house! The location, situation and facilities were exactly as described and shown in the photos. The house was spotless and beautiful maintained. The owners were so easy and polite to deal with, and so helpful in assisting with best travel arrangements for us to reach Sablet. We spent our days walking, visiting the local markets, eating out and relaxing by the beautiful pool. There are many more activities in the area if you have the energy! We would recommend staying at this property to anyone considering Provence for their next vacation. It's a perfect house for family.
