Tourists also should visit the very scenic village of La Roque sur Ceze, which is just 30 kilometres away. Here there is a fine 19th century church and the remains of a 12th century chateau. The Sautadet waterfalls just below the village are another highlight. A little further afield, Nimes is approximately an hour and 45 minute’s drive from Ruoms and features many wonderful historic buildings and museums. These include the elliptical Roman amphitheatre, the cathedral, the Maison Carree and the Musee des Beaux-Arts de Nimes.
