This holiday gite is in the quiet village of Orlu. It has great mountain walks at one end of the valley, gentler walks along the valley bottom and the town of Ax les thermes at the other end of the valley - great location!
The house is comfortable for 2 while can accommodate larger groups in the skiing season. English language TV is limited and we couldnt use the wifi, but the house is very well equipped, comfortable and has a small balcony for outside space.
Celine and Philippe couldn't have been more welcoming or more helpful - both before our arrival and when meeting us on arrival
We stayed for 5 nights during our vacation and felt completely at home. This lovely little village house was really well situated for touring and although close to a main road, never disturbed by it. The house is detached and sits on and at the end of the village road. Actual car traffic passing from the village was very rare. Occassional walking traffic a little more frequent with warm greetings from those who passed by. The house is on 3 floors with inital access through the lower floor garden, up through the cool sitting room to the separate dining room and kitchen where the front door can then be accessed and the shutters opened to enable the front door on the road to be used after that as the main entrance. Parking is just diagonally opposite the house. The wide wooden stairs up from the kichen lead to the bedrooms, one double bedroom and one room with two single beds. The rooms are separated by a small landing with a separate loo and sink and both bedrooms have a toilet, sink and shower room. Everything is thought of! The kitchen is really well supplied with cookware - I made a beautiful beef in red wine casserole using the le crueset pot and had loads of fun playing house as everything you could possibly think of had been provided. The little terrace was a joy and a real sun trap - great for breakfasts and evening meals watching the sun and clouds change across the mountains that feel as if they rise up almost at the bottom of the garden. The valley the house looks down into contains the main road and on the other side of the road is the river which you can hear gently in the distance. The downstairs living room is peaceful and cool. The circular stairs from this level to the dining room could be a bit challenging for knees and big bottoms but once the shutter on the front door is open if you really did not wish to use them it was very easy to move between floors using the front door to get to both the garden and the living room. We loved it. Someone put a lot of thought and care in to making this a truly cosy place to relax.
