Holidaymakers searching for holiday rentals in Roquebrune-Cap-Martin also enquired about Sardinia villas, villas to rent in Marseille and self catering apartments in Cannes

Make an apartment in Roquebrune-Cap-Martin your home away from home

Roquebrune-Cap-Martin holiday apartments are found among the towns and villages on this scenic headland between Monaco and Italy. Having switched between cultures and governments numerous times, the settlements of Roquebrune-Cap-Martin have long, chequered, and therefore fascinating histories, changing allegiances (albeit under protest) as recently as WWII. With the Alps at their back and the coast to their front, guests at Roquebrune-Cap-Martin an accommodation can enjoy the benefits of both mountain and coastal activities.

Additionally, villas on Roquebrune-Cap-Martin are but a couple of miles from the bustling exclusivity of Monaco, with its fantastic shopping, opulent casinos, and exquisite restaurants. Beachfront holiday rentals in Roquebrune-Cap-Martin typically come with kitchens and laundry facilities for self-caterers, and – of course – close proximity to the shore. Gardens, pools and parking are available.

Things to do

Outdoor pursuits: The nearby Alps provide the obviously excellent opportunities for skiing in the winter and hiking or climbing when the snow is gone. The coast, of course, makes for wonderful sailing, and the Cote d'Azur is famous for its beach activities and scuba diving. In the immediate area, there's a pretty looped walking trail, which leads tourists past the region's oldest olive tree – 1,000 years old.

Beaches: The coastline towards Menton, where HomeAway offers a further range of holiday homes, comprises mostly shingle beach, and is extremely popular during the summer. On this particular stretch of coast, if the beach isn't shingle, it's typically concrete or rocks, which is perfectly enjoyable if visitors have sunbeds and flip-flops (and nowhere near as ugly as it might sound!).

Nightlife: The nightlife of Monte Carlo, a couple of miles down the coast, is renowned the world over, especially for its casinos. Fortunately, gambling isn't all it offers, with many restaurants, bars and lounges, which are typically extremely expensive. Menton, equidistant to the northeast, offers more reasonably priced entertainment for those staying in this area on a budget.

Shopping: While the nightlife in Monaco is expensive, the shopping is even more upmarket. The choice, however, is incredible, and some of the most exclusive and happening brands in the world are represented here. Quite the place for a window shop – if guests aren't planning on buying. In the town itself, there are antique and open-air markets, and there's one in nearby Nice every Friday.

Culture: Nearby Monaco has an eclectic selection of museums to explore, from the Museum of Prehistoric Anthropology to the Museum Monaco Oceanographic. In the other direction from Roquebrune-Cap-Martin, Menton has its own visitable collection too, featuring its own Museum of Natural History and the dominating Basilica of Saint-Michel-Archange.

Weather in Roquebrune-Cap-Martin

With the Alps encroaching on the coast here, the climate is somewhat different to the rest of the Cote d'Azur, as the mountains protect this stretch of coast from the colder north winds. Thus it tends to be warmer here during the off-season, and has pretty much year-round sunshine. Temperatures typically top out at 29°C during the summer, and mid-teens during the winter. Most of the rain falls in the autumn.

Travel to Roquebrune-Cap-Martin

The region's main international airport is Nice Cote d'Azur Airport, which is around 21 miles from Roquebrune-Cap-Martin. As the major hub in France outside Paris, it's serviced by most of the large airlines, and many of the budget carriers. Driving to the south of France is also doable, taking only a couple of days from the south of England. By train, good connections can get travellers here in around nine hours.

Very nice Holiday

5 of 5
The flat is at fifth floor of a recently built building and it is very comfortable and not far from Menton centre (just half an hour of pleasant and not rushed walk). We are a family of four with two grown up teenagers and we really all enjoyed our stay. The flat has everything you need: efficient centralized air conditioning, electrical controlled blinds, 3 good sized beds (one double)spread in two independent rooms with comfortable mattresses, a big bathroom with a bath and a high potency shower and a fully equipped kitchen area with perfectly working brand new washing machine and dishwasher. Underground garage facility is superb and overall, it has been likely the best accommodation we experienced in the French Riviera so far and we have been around this part of France for several years.Last but no least, Marco, the owner, has always been very kind and helpful and quickly responsive to any request of ours. We would warmly commend this place for everyone looking for a quite and comfortable holiday in the French Riviera
