  • A peaceful, relaxing, medieval house in the heart of Gascony.

We had a wonderfully relaxing stay at Maison King. After a week camping down through France it was a delight to be sleeping beneath the peaceful, ancient timbers of this amazing house, which retains many of it's 15th Century features & is enhanced by the owners tasteful, quirky modern touch. The property is deceptively spacious as it is in fact two adjoining houses made into one. The main bedrooms are huge and retain their ancient grandeur. The delightful courtyard is a little treasure and we ate breakfast there most days. On arrival we were met by the Property managers Tracey and David who live nearby and are very helpful & friendly. On hot days the house & its courtyard remained pleasantly cool thanks to the thick stone walls. At night, only the cicadas and midwife toads broke the silence! Sos itself is a charming, peaceful village with a good local shop, pharmacy and a pleasant bistro bar. The night market on Wednesday was something very special; hundreds of people descending upon the square to taste the many Gascon culinary delicacies on offer (Oh the escargots!) Our girls enjoyed trips to the Plan d'eau at Barbotan-les-Thermes & we explored the area's rich historical heritage with trips to the 12th Century fortified village of Larresingle and the lively centres of Condom & Eauze. A visit to the beautiful Bastide village of Fources is a must with its lovely bars, 'brocantes' & galleries; one of our favourite places! Thank you to all concerned. We will definitely return!

We had a really relaxed holiday and the pool was the cherry on the cake! Lovely french villages and towns to visit nearby with Nerac being a must. 😎 Louise and Guntan (sorry if I spelt it wrong) were very friendly and helpful and my dog made new friends with theirs. 🐶🐶
