  • Pleasant stay in a quiet rural village

It suited our requirements only lacking a restaurant/bar open in the evening within walking distance.

  • The perfect holiday, location and cottage.

We (a family of five with children aged 9, 13 and 16 years) have been to France and Italy many times and always enjoyed where we have stayed. After 16 years we think this is the perfect holiday, location, and cottage. We spent a week here in May 2017 and immediately booked two weeks in Summer 2018 on our return. The location is stunning, a spacious and beautifully peaceful spot in the middle of endless miles of vineyards and sunflowers. We enjoyed 2 weeks in August of 28 - 32 degrees heat! We spent most of the holiday relaxing in the grounds, chilling by the huge pool, using the games room and borrowing the bikes. A few times we managed to drag ourselves away and head to the coast which has some fairly quiet beaches (even in the height of summer), that are about an hours drive away. Ian and Amanda are wonderfully kind and friendly, always happy to help (such as putting the pool lights on for a midnight swim), but never intrusive. We also had the best welcome pack we have ever had (again), so there really is no need to rush to the supermarket when you arrive. Although it feels like you are in the middle of nowhere, there is a fantastic boulangerie 5 minutes up the road, a new supermarket 10 minutes away, and the beautiful towns or Cognac and Saintes 20 minutes or so away by car. If you enjoy road biking you can cycle a different 20 - 30 miles route from the property every day and still find somewhere new each time, but with hardly a car on the road! The accommodation is spacious, well designed and wonderfully equipped. We certainly intend to return! Mark, Tarah, Joel, Naomi and Maria.
