Perfect stay in a five-star villa

5 of 5
We spent a week in the house at the end of August 2016, and for two adults and two young children running around, it was absolutely perfect. It's very well equipped throughout, with high quality furnishings and an excellent kitchen. It's also very secure (in fact, the level of security was surprising, with automatic gates, a videophone, electric shutters around the entire house and so on). The outside area was idyllic - a decent-sized pool with a bit of a view (not heated, but when we put the cover over it during the day it might as well have been, and we were in there every afternoon). There's plenty of space to lounge by the pool, a great balcony terrace which we didn't use as much as we should have, and a great and very easy-to-use plancha for cooking on - haven't used one before and we were instant converts. Being all on one level was perfect with kids, and despite being very well-furnished it was relatively child-friendly. It was palatial for a family of four, but there's enough space that larger groups should feel very comfortable too. It was the extra luxury touches which were the real highlights - the big American fridge and icemaker, which we used constantly, the power shower, the walk-in closets, the roomy bath, the utility room with tumbledryer, a few toys for the kids and so on. Downsides? Well, the big one was the lack of air con, which we felt at the peak of summer, though fans (would have been nice to have more of them) and keeping the shutters down helped and it was less of a problem than it might have been. Plus, it gave us an excuse to dip into the pool each day. We also found the location wasn't quite ideal, as many of the places we wanted to visit (Arles, Carpentras, the Camargue etc) were an hour and a bit away and the kids weren't keen on long car journeys. That said, there's plenty to do a bit closer - Uzes and the Pont du Gard, for example. The village of Cruviers-Lascours itself was a bit of a non-event (and the villa is in the separate higher hamlet where not much is going on) but it's quiet, residential and peaceful. Béatrice & Koen who own the property were really friendly and helpful and unobtrusive, perfect hosts. All-in-all it was a fantastic holiday in a beautiful house and we'd love to go back one day.

A wonderful week

5 of 5
We had a wonderful week at La Bergerie. It is such a relaxing place - no cars, no sounds but the rustle of the wind in the trees and the call of the golden orioles (briefly glimpsed). The mulberry tree makes the perfect parasol, to sit and read, or to enjoy convivial meals. The pool is immaculate, and well fenced-in so that we had no worries about the children having accidents. They loved all the animals - Gordon the dog, and the donkeys and goats and hens. Jenny and Nick were excellent hosts, too!
