Make a holiday rental in Quend-Plage, France your home away from home

Quend-Plage is a commune in the Somme Department of northern France’s Picardy region. Quend-Plage self-catering holiday accommodation is found on the coast, with beaches, picturesque coastal towns and numerous attractions within easy reach.

One of the highlights close to Quend-Plage self-catering accommodation is the beach, which extends for some 15 kilometres. It’s wide and sandy, and is the perfect setting for a family beach holiday in the summer months. Thanks to the breezes and large expanse of sand the beach is especially popular with kite surfers, while sand-yachting is also becoming more popular. A little way south of Quend is the mouth of the Somme River, which is protected as part of the Reserve Naturelle de la Baie de Somme – it’s an unspoiled beach reserve and noted for its birdlife, with a ornithological park encompassed by the protected area.

A little way north of Quend-Plage holiday rentals is Fort-Mahon-Plage, also noted for its long and pristine sandy beach. All kinds of activities are on offer here, and lifeguards oversee the main extent of shoreline in front of the town. Another interesting feature of Fort-Mahon-Plage is the sand dunes, which is known for its wildlife, supporting a surprisingly diverse array of flora and fauna.

Abbeville is just half an hour in the car from Quend-Plage self-catering accommodation. It’s an attractive city with a number of interesting sights. There’s the Chateau and Bagatelle Gardens, which date to the 1700s. The Church of the Holy Sepulchre was constructed in the 1400s and is considered a good example of Gothic religious architecture. If you’re a golf enthusiast then Abbeville offers a fine 18-hole course, and there’s another a little closer in the dune system no more than a couple of minutes from your accommodation.

Great location in the dunes

5 of 5
This is a wonderful beach house, literally you are on the beach as it is built into the dunes. Ideally situated slightly away from the main Quend Plage beach it is only a short walk through the dunes to a fabulous and huge sandy beach which disappears out of sight in both directions. It is also dog friendly and early morning and evening walks were a delight. The house was spotlessand is modern and fully equipped, comfortable seating, TV and DVD player, plus an excellent fully equipped kitchen. Out side (which is the front) a patio table plus the use of 4 deck chairs and a BBQ. M & Mme Brico were very friendly and explained everything, we had to apologise for our poor French! The weather was amazing rising to 36C on the Wednesday which frankly is too hot!!. Plenty to see in the Somme area although the heat did actually curtail too much walking - our dog went on strike. Found some good restaurants all over the Baie de Somme area. Would I recommend it? Without hesitation! One note worth mentioning, the stairs are steep, they would be difficult for children, the infirm or the elderly. A baby gate is provided however.

Golden autumn

5 of 5
We stayed with two families in the house and all of us really enjoyed it. There was enough space and equipment for 4 adults, 5 children and a baby. The house is bright, warm and in a good shape. The wooden stove warmed the living room in the morning and in the evenning, that was sufficient in terms of heating. Fresh air, daily walks on the beach, croissants, chease and fruits de mer... What do you need more to feel good and relax? Very probably that we will visit the Sch'ties another time...
