The local restaurants are quite excellent, especially if you try the fish of the day, caught fresh off the coast of Port-Vendres and cooked in traditional Catalan styles. The vineyards in the area, including Collioure and Banjuls, produce some excellent wines, readily available throughout the whole area. The Saturday morning market is awash with colour and flavour, and a great place to stock up with local produce, strong spices and fresh fruit and vegetables.

Port-Vendres is home to a string of sheltered little beaches. The most popular beach in Port-Vendres is the sandy beach of Paulilles, which has all the tourist facilities you could need, including restaurants, windsurfing centres and peddle boat hire. For those looking for a little more solitude and peace, there are many secluded creek beaches from which to choose, including the small sandy expanses of Oli beach and Plage d’en Baux. There are a handful of direct services from the UK, with Ryanair operating flights from Birmingham (BHX) and Stansted (STN), whilst Flybe operate flights from Southampton (SOU). Although transfers take very little time and Port-Vendres is well connected to the local area, a hire car is an excellent option, allowing you to explore the whole of Languedoc-Roussillon and even the Barcelona region of Spain.

I would definitely recommend this place if you want to visit this area. Walking distance to Collioure and Port Vendre but here you have a nice quiet corner with parking too. Fabulous views and apartment very high standard. We will be back!

Perfect cottage

Chère Madame Barre Nous avons passé un très bon séjour dans votre chalet. C'était bien équipé et avait presque tout ce dont nous avions besoin. Une ou deux choses que vous pourriez envisager: le déshumidificateur (je pense que c'est ce que c'est) dans le sous-sol est assez bruyant et peut être entendu dans le reste du chalet. Il semblait étonnamment difficile de faire sécher les sous-sols à moins de les mettre dans le sèche-linge. C'est dommage (pour nous!) Que la télévision n'ait pas de programmes en anglais. La plus grande difficulté était de prendre les bagages de la voiture à la maison mais ce n'est pas de ta faute! . Mais ce sont des problèmes mineurs - dans l'ensemble c'était charmant et nous reviendrons peut-être un jour si nous le pouvons. Cordialement Howard et Esther Morgan
