Magnificent

5 of 5
We stayed in this property for two weeks in July and August 2018. For most of the holiday, the weather was extremely hot as it was for most of Europe. We were joined by another family for the first week and various other family and friends for the second. We have rented holiday houses over many years but this was our favourite by a long way – it is magnificent. A private, peaceful and rural backdrop away from our usual busy lives but sufficiently close to a boulangerie and supermarket to make food shopping easy. It is a beautiful house with ample space for twelve guests to spend time together or apart when doing different activities. In the heat of the day, the teenagers were in the TV room watching videos, the student was working on her dissertation in the huge dining room whilst the adults read peacefully in the atmospheric lounge. A very well equipped kitchen had everything for the keen cook although the heat during most of the holiday meant that we ate very simply and the barbecue got well used. A main fridge and two drinks’ fridges meant that cold beer and wine was available at all times! Bedrooms were spacious and comfortable and there were lots of well-equipped bathrooms. The two master suites were both lovely - the downstairs one was much cooler. Outside, the space was equally generous – the pool and table tennis table were used every day and the patio table was a favourite place to sit and chat. Lovely rural area – day trips to various Chateaux and towns and several wine tasting trips. The heat meant we stayed at the house more than usual but this was no hardship. Hosts charming and helpful. One small issue with a shower fixed within the hour.

Lignieres is a lovely town and this cottage is very comfy and only 2 mins from the market square

5 of 5
This is the second time we have stayed here in this cottage in Lignieres, it is very good quality, clean and comfortable. The owners Julie and Nicole are lovely, helpful but not intrusive. The cottage is situated an easy 2 minute walk to the bars, restaurants, shops and market square of this pretty little town on a river. The town is in a great situation to explore the area. We visited beautiful cathedral and churches, saw lots of wildlife on the way to other pretty towns around, went to a couple of brocantes, did a bit of shopping etc.etc. We were a bit limited this time with an 80 year old dad in tow but found plenty to do for our 5 day stay, and enjoyed a couple of late evenings out too, yes there is a bit of life in this small town in the evenings too. There are other activities in the area such as canoeing and cycling. Maybe we will try some of those activities next time and there will definitely be a next time.
