  • A surprisingly spacious small gite with everything we needed and in a fabulous location.

The owners were very welcoming and ensured that they did everything they could to make our stay a memorable one. Because they live nearby, they were happy to accommodate our uncertain arrival time. The gite had everything we needed and we loved the attic bedroom with its narrow, wooden staircase. This is a great location for visiting nearby Munster and Colmar, and for hiking in the stunning mountain scenery at 4,000ft (helped by reference books and suggestions from our hosts). Given its location, the area suffered terribly in the Great War, and there are several well-preserved and evocative places to visit where you can imagine the horrors that both sides experienced. We bought everything we needed from the village shop and bakery and enjoyed bars and restaurants in Munster and Colmar. We were sorry to leave- thank you Andre and Anne Marie

  • The gite is beautifully positioned in the Grand Le Valtin. It’s very well equipped and comfortable.

Le Cerf provides wonderful views across the valley particularly from the master bedroom. The log burner is a much needed addition in the winter months and provides a fantastic centre piece as well offering a great source of heat. The owners, Dawn and Paul are very welcoming hosts, and are in hand should you need any help or advice. We visited at Christmas and were treated to a white one, and plenty of fresh snow thereafter. There’s plenty to do straight from the front door; snow walking, sledging etc. etc., and 10 mins from Gérardmer. The gite was decorated with a Christmas tree, champagne chilling in the fridge and a plate of handmade mince pies! All of this thoughtful touches added to the magic of Le Cerf and our holiday.
