  • Peaceful and traditional cottage, a must for history, nature, cheese and sun lovers and book readers
    5 of 5

This dear little cottage gave us everything we needed for a peaceful, relaxing holiday. The only sounds you hear apart from the rich wild life is the distant toll of the church bell. Paradise for walkers, sight seeing, history of the Second World War. Not just the landing beaches but also a visit to Mont-Omel (fabulous and thought inspiring) is a must. The surrounding areas are great for sight seeing other interests like lace in Alencon and Argentan, the city of Caen as well as beautiful old churches, cathedrals and Basilicas. Falaise itself shows where William the Conquorer was born. A trip to Camembert is also another must visit where you can enjoy tasting sessions of different cheese and then buy your favourite. The many villages are stunningly beautiful with their amazing flower displays which give fantastic views whilst enjoying a cafe au lait. Marie is an exceptional host, who potters about the large property garden and leaves little gifts of fresh herbs, delicious apple desserts and always has a smiling face to greet you. Always on hand if you need anything but never intrusive. The cottage is deceptively spacious and cosy, with everything you need. Wonderful holiday and will definitely return.
