This was our first visit to the Dordogne and we were enchanted with it. La Fermette was a wonderful place to stay. Karen and Rob provide a wonderful relaxing environment with everything you could want in a gite and we would thoroughly recommend the property. We went with two of our teenage children who were happy to spend pool days as well as activity days. Clean, well equipped and tastefully decorated. The gardens are beautiful and the pool area is well maintained and clean with comfortable sun loungers and inflatables to amuse the children (and the adults). The games barn is an extra bonus and great for games of table tennis and snooker with a great collection of games and videos. Kayaking down the Dordogne was possibly the highlight of the activities, although the cycling was great and we went to Squirrel Forest for our high wires amongst the trees. I think we were fortunate to come at the start of summer because we had no queues for any of the activities. Would love to return to this beautiful part of France soon.

The property was spectacular, all the rooms well kept and the decor was fresh but in keeping with the area. Having the pool was an absolute bonus as the sun was shining for our whole stay. Lovely and quite in the evenings, great to have a BBQ and a few drinks with your friends / family on the terrace with plenty on laughs had. But if you wanted a quiet night in your room you felt like you were in a little world of your own. St Gènies a half hour walk or 5 minute drive was gorgeous, especially the Sunday food market and the evening market on the Wednesday where you can eat with the locals and try some of the local cuisine, Devine :0) Sarlat, a 15 minute drive away is a wonderful medieval town whe you can soak up the atmosphere sat in one of the bars / restaurants and just watch life pass you by. Canoeing on the Dordogne is a must, spectacular views and lovely to be on the water in the heat. You can go as fast or as slow as you like and it's great with a group of friends. Just a fantastic place to visit...and we will hopefully return at some point in the future.

We had a car and spent some time exploring the valley which was beautiful. The medieval sites were breath-taking and we also visited some fantastic gardens within the local area. Sarlet was lovely and the Market tempted us to buy far too much cheese and fresh fruit. We spent the evenings sitting outside in the main square, watching the world go by. Thank you Emmanuel.
