A relaxing stay in a very well appointed, clean and modern gite.

5 of 5
We stayed for one week, Sunday to Sunday having flown directly from Southampton to Bergerac and picking up a hire car from there. The whole travel experience was simple and efficient and was a good start to our time at Le Petit Paradis. The gite itself is a fine example of modern decor, with a shower room and a bathroom, two bedrooms and a living/kitchen area. The kitchen is complete with microwave, oven, hob, dishwasher, washing machine, fridge-freezer and as much crockery and cutlery as you could ever need. There is also a barbeque if you need it. The living area has a table that would seat six plus comfy chairs and a TV with UK and EU Freesat services. There is WiFi in the gite but also a (weak) mobile phone signal. Outdoors is a table and chairs with large parasol that can be used for eating/drinking etc., and also a 1.2m deep pool with loungers. It's notable to say that the views all around are great and no one overlooks any of the areas outside. Marcia and Neil are your hosts who live next door but are super-discreet except when required as they gave superb assistance to us when we needed it. Marcia was able to give advice for places to visit and places to eat, things to see and do in the area and of course advise on shopping. She speaks several languages and was able to translate anything we needed from French to English. The area around runs at a much slower pace than usual life which is perfect for a holiday, a trip to the boulangerie for croissants and baguette in the morning sets the day off, then short runs in almost any direction takes you to typical (?) French villages and towns with superb ancient structures or cave systems (grottes) and markets with local products on sale. Lunch/coffee outside one of many establishments just to watch the people go by. July-August is the hottest part of the year - we had circa 30 degrees C each day but there are always cool shops or the caves to hide in if too warm, the gite itself remained fairly cool all day anyway. All in all a great week - recommended for a very relaxing, quiet break, nothing was stressful, everything available close to hand.
