Make a holiday rental home or villa in Payzac, France your home away from home

The village of Payzac lies in a stunning rural area, surrounded by rolling hills and the fragrant blossom of apple orchards. Located in the northern Dordogne, near the border with Haute-Vienne and Correze, Payzac is a wonderful base for exploration of south eastern France, and has all the facilities you will need for a fully relaxing break, including a wonderful restaurant, a butcher, chemist and bank. Those looking for somewhere to truly relax and take in the best of Dordogne cultures, a self catering Payzac property rental offers exactly that.

A Payzac holiday has something for everyone. There are tennis courts, golf courses, riding stables, wine tasting centres, walking trails and mountain bike hire centres within walking distance of any Payzac accommodation. Despite being such a great location for active holidays in the stunning scenery of Perigord Vert, many Payzac holidays end up being anything but active! The scenery is such that lazing by the side of your Payzac villa pool never looses its appeal, and the length of lunches in the region means half the afternoon is spent sipping the finest of local wines and giving your taste buds a real work out, with truffles, fois gras, wild mushroom and duck dishes of the highest quality.

There is even a beautiful lake, Lake Rouffiac, just a few miles from Payzac, with a glorious lake beach and a sailing centre from which you can hire boats or take sailing lessons. Swimming is very popular in the clean waters of Lake Rouffiac, and canoes are available for hire. The lake is also a magnificent place to start walks, as it is set in 60 hectares of pristine woodland, which conceals a maze of walking and riding trails.

The wine making credentials of the region are unquestionable, and from connoisseurs to interested beginners you can enjoy some wonderful wine tasting sessions and vineyard tours, which often also include a tour of the elegant chateaux that adorn the landscape.

To the Manoir Born - the Good Life found

5 of 5
What a wonderful time we all had on our week's stay at Le Manoir St Sulpice - D'Excideuil. We are a family of eleven, age ranging from Granny at 71, down to Margot, the youngest, at 3. From the moment the first of us arrived and were shown the house by both Nicholas and Simon, we felt totally welcome and very much at home. Le Manoir is stunning, so much space to feel comfortable in, and every room is so beautifully and thoughtfully decorated and furnished. Every modern convenience is ready for use: the kitchen has generous numbers of devices and helpful machines, and enough cutlery, glasses and crockery to cover all requirements. We all found the beds faultlessly comfortable, and each bedroom having its own modern and well appointed bathroom made such a difference. The hot water was constant- always important where several children and fastidious adults are concerned. But enough of the huge advantages of the house: outside- an eye watering variety of games awaited : badminton, a football goal, cricket bats and ball, croquet for the less agile and the most attractively set swimming pool, with enough good quality lounges around it for us all. An open fronted loggia beside the pool was a delight. In it a huge fireplace ( logs supplied and replenished every day) gave warmth as we sat at the enormous beautiful oak dining table for relaxed evening cocktails and meals. A barbecue and a plancha gave the men the opportunity to show off their culinary prowess and all the tableware we needed was available there in wall cupboards, above worktops and a sink. A modern loo in one corner meant leaving to go to the house was unnecessary throughout the evening. Finally, the garden : the rose beds were glorious, the topiary clever, the lavender prolific and the vegetable and fruit gardens Chelsea ready. An unexpected extra gardening guest wandered by on our sight each evening: to the delight of us all - a hedgehog! We cannot thank Simon and Nicholas too much for providing such a perfect place to stay and enjoy, away from our fast moving everyday lives.Their tolerance and generosity knows no bounds, such kind hosts, such interesting people - we can't wait to visit again.

We had a great week with Phil & Cyndi in their gite. They were most helpful, very knowledgeable and most importantly a good laugh! We shall be returning to stay with them when the opportunity presents itself. Thanks for a cracking holiday guys! See you soon.
